I have nothing to cause me to back peddle.... and look up the definition of passive aggression.

and I can't believe you say that you think these words "ghetto, pimp, drug dealer's, urban" can be substituted for black or African-American...and you accuse others of stereotyping?...

Who and what are those terms used to describe here? You can't flip it on me; I'm not the one substituting anything. I say exactly what I mean.

I'm not trying to fan the flamnes here but 'ghetto, pimp, drug dealer's, urban" can be substituted for black or African-American'. Q that statment can also be considered racist because some could take it as you think only African-Americans can be thoes and that in no way a white or latin etc person can be thoes. I do see where you're coming from with that statement though.

Also to the camaro comment, yes he's white but he also tries to be "black" by talking in the stero typical accents and mispronunciations of the english lanuage. and yes i agree some comments are possibly closet racist comments like
But first I gots to gets me sum dim blue bulb head lites fo da cutty YO! Thinks Autozone gots em...maybe I can snatch me a few b fo the buzzer goes off!!
and i can see how the last few words could be offencive but there are also no words specifing the ethnic group or even if there is one that the comment is aimed at. for all we known that poster could be talking about a white kid talking in the "cool" way they hear today's "musicans" talk. in all honesty you're just assuming these comments are aimed at African-Americans and when people assume it makes an *ss out of you and me .

now can we all just stop this closet racist bs? we like cars and we're all gear heads, some more knowledgable than other and from different back grounds. some like 13's, others 15's with white letters and other 20+. we don't have to like them all but we don't have to bash them and of course we all don't have to comment or read a thread about bashing and comment and start a fight. now can we all talk about something we can all agree on? like how true ricers are such a waste of a car such as civics with a fart can bigger than thier rims

 I dunno about you but whenever I see one of these "Conestoga Specials" I point and giggle before I even get a glimpse of who's behind the wheel. But that's just me, who's driving really doesn't matter. I don't like it, I think it looks stupid, and I will continue to giggle like a 10 year old schoolgirl (or cry like one) when I see it. I used to laugh (still do actually) at the 'roller skate' cars with the little tiny wheels with waaaay too much offset. Bonus points when I see those guys on the side of the road with busted axles. I roll my eyes and shake my head at the 'necks in their trucks with mud tires, off-road lifts, and confederate battle flags in their trucks' rear windows too. Ditto the 'ricers' with their busted up fiberglass ground effects and primer-gray 3' high wings. I'm sure I'm leaving somebody out, but you get the point.

As to these claims that this board is somehow inherently "racist." I don't stand for it here, the racism I mean. I have seen some of the posts in this thread that I (regrettably) started and considered handing out warnings or punishment, but I was hoping it would just fade away. I have asked racist elements to leave before and they have. I'm also not going to sit here and try and gauge intention on every single post. If it really bothers you that bad, then take care and have a nice day. I'm not forcing you to read things here. You may find this hard to believe, but I've actually had complaints in THE OTHER DIRECTION.... that the "guys with the big wheels" are taking over the board, and all I can say to them is exactly the same thing. :wtf:

I have two choices, give you guys a little bit of leeway to talk and bullshit around, or be a complete ****ing Nazi and ban people and delete posts at the slightest hint someone might get offended. I've been around internet discussions since the old USENET days and the latter NEVER works. EVER. The site/board/group gets a reputation for that, and nobody visits anymore, or says anything, else they get banned.

The car says PIMP right there on it. WTF do you want me to do about that? The intention is clear. I didn't put it there. One of two things is going on there, either UPS is directly involved and funding his car (doubtful given the 'pimp' thing) or the owner is in gross violation of copyright and trademark laws and if I were a lawyer for UPS I would come after this you-know-what and force him to take that junk off his car.

Don't get all butthurt because people don't like the way you customize your car. One of the first big arguments on this site (and its first ban IIRC) was because some "professional" came on here with a totally bastardized Monte, and started throwing a fit when we didn't bow down and worship it. Ditto the guy with the dumb gas pedal covers and stuff. Someone said "Hm. No sir, I don't like it." and it all went to hell.

Don't make me lock this thread because you all are arguing like a bunch of 12 year olds. Which will be the only reason I will do so.

Delete this thread and the one in Off Topic about Cincinnati's now repealed big wheel law. Some of the posts there culturally offensive as well. The issue isn't the lack of respect for the cars; it's the disrespect and stereotyping of the majority of said cars' owners' culture.

I agree with this statement. We are all from different backgrounds/generations. I love cars in general whether it be air cooled vws, gbodys, 60's and 70's muscle cars, 4x4's, exotic cars, etc. I could never post a picture online and bash another car builder because I don't like what he/she did to there car. Who am I to criticize someones work? My car isn't perfect but it's built to my liking. If I didn't like a car I wouldn't waist my time talkin bad about it. I'd rather leave a positive note on someone elses ride that I do like.

One thing some here have correct, it is a knock on their "culture". It is not however, a knock on anyone's race! I hate ricers, that my friends is a culture, so is the one that spawns Jeeps with every possible off road accessory available, then using them for grocery getters, it's also a culture that attracts the mod bogger look on 4wd's. Low riders are part of a culture, as are hard core "everything must be original down to the chalk marks" guys. Corvette club guys are a culture, mostly wealthy white guys in their middle age or older, often with open shirts, gray chest hair and a gold chain. I make fun of some or all of them, including myself and my own habits. Hell, I'm an old NC country boy and I still talk that way, I make fun of myself and so do others. I consider an honor that people notice my traits. I'm very proud of my heritage and culture and people putting me down just strengthens my convictions. As for people making fun of my tastes, I couldn't care less. I think many minorities and others for that matter, confuse cultural criticism with racism. The ain't the same thing my friends!

Now, that I've said that; I'm still laughing about the dude accusing others of big balls behind the monitor, while his are dragging the ground behind his monitor!

From my perspective it's not necessarily the big wheels, it's the fact that a grown man puts "pimp" on the side of his car.

As for the racist bs, I've been around just about every culture and race, and even more countries than most of you have been in states. How many times do you think I hear whiteboy, white people don't get cold, that's white people sh*t, etc?? Who cares? I say it myself half of the time because it's true. Muslims and people of Arabic decent catch hell regularly. My woman is Mexican and I give her sh*t when I see people rolling 10 deep in a suburban or someone pushing an elote cart down the street honking that damn goose horn!

Q, I recall another thread where you said you're in Iraq. I don't know how much dealing with the locals you've had but I know you can see how they don't like Americans regardless of race. We dealt with the same thing in Kuwait, Oman, U.A.E. and Hong Kong years ago. Being Marines probably didn't help it either

As for the Cincinnati "donk" thing goes; I remember when they were making an issue out of lowriders and bumper heights in Cali years ago.

Every time gun ownership rights come up, it becomes a white thing and the NRA is suddenly a pagan organization. Keep in mind they stood behind a black man, Otis McDonald, and sued Chicago to win handgun rights once again.

The bottom line is it's the adolescent mind frame and ignorance that gets me. Every race has that. I think of my own damn brother as a hillbilly that won't grow up. He's still stuck in the high school mindset at 34, lives at home and doesn't work.

You all need to relax a little bit.....QDub, sounds like your taking all this sh*t personally. I don't care if your black, white, indian, mexican, muslin or Hispanic....We're all here because we have that G Body thing in common. We live in america and have freedom of speech. Nobody was calling you or Bumpin 1ohm out either. You guys are great contriubuters and I really doubt anyone was saying anything to offend you. If some of the remarks earlier in the thread got you hot in the pants, why not PM that person instead of trying to attack everyone else? But were all human and sometimes we say things that offend people w/o realizing what were doing. If someone puts up a pic of someone else's "Work" and other poeple comment about it, who cares. WE all have a right to voice our opinions. Agreed that this got off topic though.
That being said....That ELKY does look like sh*t though
