Gents....
I have a throttle cable length issue with my swap. Since my car came with a 3.8L v6 and a dual jet carb, the throttle cable wont reach the 2bbl carb on my 70' motor when it is mounted in the bracket. My choices seem to be: change the throttle cable to a longer one, probably from a 1970ish cutlass or delta 88 that came with this engine/carb, or use a universal cable and cut it to fit, or use an extension on the existing cable. I just want it to look clean and not have issues with the pedal linkage, etc. Anybody on here using a set up with a uni cable? Any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Bill

Would modifying the bracket be an option? A picture would help...

I didn't have any issues when I went from 3.8 to V8 in my wagon...

I would assume that you went with a 4bbl carb set up and that makes a difference in cable length because the 2bbl throttle link is not dead center of the carb, it sits forward an inch or two. The cable will reach the carb, but not when mounted in the bracket and I have gotten other brackets but they are for modern 2bbl carbs, which are wider. Do you have a pic of your set up?

Hello??

The ones from earlier Cutlasses with the 2bbl carb are even shorter. They list them at 22.75", whereas the one you have should be at least 23.5".

I don't think they ever used a 2GC set-up on an Olds engine in a g-body. Even the 260 in '78 was listed as having a dual-jet. It may be a better option to scrap the 2bbl idea and just go to a q-jet set-up. At least then you have some options.

I'm with Blake. Modify the bracket, or get a universal bracket.

Sorry Bill, I missed your response to my post...

I did go with a 4bbl when I did the swap, unfortunately I don't have any pics of the throttle linkage/cable on my car...

Thanks for the advice and info. I found a throttle cable on Ebay for a 69 delta 88 that is about 26.8" long. I will probably try to use it first, if I can make it work with the pedal or I can use the old bracket from 1970 and the 85 v6 cable..but I will have to lengthen the cable several inches. Then I still have to figure out what to make for the detent cable so it will fit and work properly. The Spectre or Mr Gasket universal brackets for the detent wont work without modification.
