Upper Control Arm Bump Stops

I just installed some new Mevotech upper control arms. I have 2 issues that I need some advice on. First the bump stops will not stay in the slots when I let the jack down. Second I messed up and let the shims fall out before marking them. Is there some way to get it shimmed close enough to take to alignment shop. Also what are you guys doing with the abs sensor on the Blazer setup? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

A few miles on the tires won’t damage them. Best time to do an alignment is with fairly new ones anyway.
 
I cut the wire as close to the spindle as possible. Use a plier and pull on the rubber tab that pokes thru the arm. It has a slot to retain it on the arm.

Eyeball them and add shims to get it them close enough as well as the toe in. As longs as they are not like way off that makes them look funny ala low rider and the alignment shop is a few miles away you'll be alright.

Those are the stops I have but they keep popping out once I put weight back on.
 
I took the abs sensor out, tapped the knuckle, and installed a set screw or small NPT pipe plug with blue Loctite. Sorry I can't tell you what size, pretty sure whatever the closest tap drill size compared to the current hole in the hub, if that makes sense.

If you have them seated, they shouldn't fall out. I've heard a few stories of the repros not fitting right, however. Not sure what that's about. Lube them, then use pliers to pop them in place.

The GM p/n for the upper bumpers are 1362014. Same p/n for either side. 2 per car.

Listen to Chong Li. Use NOS bumpers. They don't fall out. 🙂

Here are the ones that I am using and I do pull them all the way into the arm. Got them from Rock Auto. I see people using longer ball joints with the Blazer setup, is this necessary?

Only other thing I can think is that I may have the control arms on the wrong side on the car. The above pics are of the driver side. Can anyone tell from the pic if that's on the right side?
 
Looks correct as far as being on the proper side. Are those arms original or aftermarket? Just wondering. The slot opening may make a difference. Those rubber bumpers should be a pita somewhat to get them installed. If they go in rather easily, there could be treachery afoot.
