USPS- Can they get any better?

I'm not 100% if you've ever used it... but i usually end up subscribing to the "Text & Email Updates" and they usually are quite accurate. Never had any bad luck with USPS... But again with COVID-19, That's a Good Way to test a company & workers like this on arriving with the packages not late or missing. 😉 Especially with ALL The dead beats out there who like to steal packages... smh.

Dude - your sig picture is creepy

The letters, I say yes. The packages? Not always. You may see a tracking number saying that it will be delivered that day, but if the package gets hung up somewhere or whatever and is running late....it ain't going to show up at your door that day. But overall, it does work pretty well. Like today I was waiting for the quarterly bill from the pest control because they were late getting it to me. Usually it shows up two days after the service. They performed the service last Tuesday, so I was thinking I'd have to call them. It showed up in this morning's email saying it was coming today, so I knew I wouldn't have to call them about it.

Update: Man, they're moving fast. It left Atlanta today and got to Augusta around 11:35 AM, and at 12:06 pm after it got to Augusta it shows it's headed over to my town postal office now (20 miles away). I would expect it to be delivered tomorrow, fingers crossed!!!! It's probably been in Atlanta for 2 weeks sitting in a corner somewhere.

I really think someone got on them to find that package. I could be wrong, but I'd like to think my STANKY FEEDBACK lit a fire under somebody's butt. Without any further info, I'll just believe that and that helps restore a little faith in USPS.

But something seems odd. Usually, something gets to Atlanta and hangs for a day or two...in Atlanta. Bouncing between south side and north side. Then it comes to Augusta, and up until recently they were pretty good about getting it one day, then sending it over at 3:30 AM the next day to my post office so it would go out for delivery. But last week a package went quick to Augusta by Thursday, and then it was sent over "in transit" to final destination. It showed up in my mailbox yesterday. So it took until DAY 4 to make a 20 mile trip.

It all depends on your local branches.
I've bought hundreds of model cars over the last few years and USPS handled a vast majority of them and have been great 99.9% of the time.
FedEx is terribly slow and UPS is straight up dogshit in my area. Both are more expensive than USPS... NO THANKS

3 times now UPS has marked a package as on-time & delivered, but they did not deliver it...
The next day around lunch time they finally drop it off... Good way to pad your OTD metrics...

Another thing. In the past the carrier routes were pretty stable, they never changed. It took a full blown whole office route inspection to make sure everyone was "working 8 hours". They did this every few years or so. After the route checks minor adjustments were made to get all the routes as close to 8 hours as possible. The clerks had a "scheme" which was a map and a listing of all the streets and avenues in the zip code and they could see what routes the addresses were on. Thus a clerk would need to pass a "scheme test" certifying that he knew every possible address in the zip code and what route the address was on. That made it EZPZ to sort the mail and packages. This worked well for a couple of hundred years but the Post Office motto is "If it ain't broke- fix it until it is!". Now they use the carriers scanner to figure out exactly how much time he spends working and they try and add as much street time as possible to his route. They take the lightest day of the year and use that data to add street time. If the route is now over 8 hours and the carrier can't finish in time they blame the carrier. But by being able to add area to routes any time they feel like it- the scheme is out of date immediately. So what do they do? They use another type scanner to scan the bar codes to sort the loose mail and parcels. The clerk now has no idea what route an address is on. If the bar code is unreadable or in error the parcel gets thrown on the "oh well" pile to be figured out later on. That is what happened to my $1000 power trim and tilt for my outboard motor. No bar code so it sat there until my own carrier found it and he knew it was my address. The clerks had no clue. Now figure what happens when they "think" it goes somewhere else but when it gets to somewhere else it goes through the same BS. And why would they do such stupidity? Every minute of street time saved is bonus bucks for the manager. So lying and cheating is the norm.

Oh, forgot to update this.

It's been DELIVERED as of yesterday! And interestingly, and amazingly, the shipping box is in PERFECT condition and so are the parts. Label's not torn or marred and totally legible. 🤔

Because.......ineptness. It's the only plausible explanation. I'm still of the notion it got misplaced or fell off the cart in the corner somewhere and languished until I gave that scathing review on their customer service. Then it was expedited.

Glad your outcome was similar albeit much more delayed to mine.
