Hey guys, hows it going. I'm gonna start off to say I'm a beginner with all this stuff, learning as I go.

Off the top, you all have some beautiful rides, real nice, mine was sitting for a long time, so there's a lot of work to be done. Anyways,I have this 83 cutlass that I recently decided to gut out and put some work into, I gutted out the v6 and transmission out of it without a problem, and I have the 350 thats going into it, but no transmission yet.

My question is, when I called up some junkyards to ask about the th350, they all asked what size, short tail, long tail, something like that.

What size am I going to need, I didn't even know there were different sizes with the transmission.

My apologies if its a dumb question, I'm just confused with it.

Thanks

You are going to need a short tail transmission. If you get a long tail you would need to shorten the driveshaft. And I think you probably had a metric TH200 in it before, so a TH350 with a short tail will be a direct replacement with no mods.

alright cool, so I would be able to use the driveshaft I already have, scratch one thing off the list of stuff I gotta buy.

Thanks man

Oh, here another question. The car was hooked up with some 100 spoke rims, with the spike in the middle. I want to un-cholo this ride, so tried taking em off today. I used the round tool to unscrew the center of the rim, but once I got em off I couldn't find any bolts to unscrew to take the sh*t off!

Anyone ever messed with those kinds of rims before?

that probably is held on by the center cap, which should have some indication as to which way is to tighten and which way is to loosen.

My 83 cutlass came stock with a th350c.. even tho it was a V6.. maybe urs was the same.. id run that.. its fairly strong in stock form
