Hey SBO guys!!!

Need info on this gasket. It doesnt come with the center hole for the crossover exhaust found on the stock manifolds. The gasket is made out of material similar to, if not the same as, exhaust gasket material. Im just wondering what the benefit would be of using this gasket versus a stock Felpro with the holes. And, will it hold up over time and not burn thru. Mondello makes plugs for the heads that do basically the same thing used with a regular gasket. Also, does anybody know if the Edelbrock 2711 performer intake come with the holes or are they plugged up? Pics on their website dont really help answer that.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Bill

Those gaskets will likely burn thru. I've used a few different sets of gaskets on a stock engine and every time I've removed the intake after them being in service for a few thousand miles, they've all been burnt completely thru.

The Mond*llo plugs I hear are crap. They are meant to be just pounded into place as a friction fit. The problem is they have a tendency to wiggle loose and then rattle enough that it sounds like you have a bad rocker.

I believe the 2711 still has the exhaust crossover, it just doesn't have the EGR boss on the intake.

When I bought an Offenhauser 360* Equa-flo intake years ago it came with aluminum plugs that were installed in the intake exhaust crossover. They still had a small hole to allow a little heat through but could have easily been welded shut. I had a guy I worked with at the time TIG weld the plugs in place and they worked well. You could probably do something similar with the Edelbrock. Just get some 1/4" thick aluminum or better, cut it to fit the exhaust crossover hole in the intake and have them TIG welded in place.

Thanks for the heads up...i kinda figured that might be the case. I have some tig experience myself so the plug patch idea isn't a bad one.

update:

This Victor gasket wont fit!...its made for either aftermarket aluminum heads or the 455 heads. 95014SG is the AZ part number. Runner holes are huge! Any suggestions on a good gasket for this engine/manifold set up? Thanks....

I used the SCE SBO composite gaskets with the Nitrile beads around the ports. I used them with the Edelbrock block off plugs and a RPM intake. The main thing I hate about composite gaskets is holding them in place. I found mine slid down, partially blocking the ports, when I removed the intake. I would still use RTV around the water ports and let it dry completely before installation, should help hold them. I also could not put my untouched Performer on my stock 76 350, short block. Not even after wallowing out the holes. Supposedly some Edelbrock intakes are far from straight, out of box. Mine was bought NIB off Ebay. I went Turkey Tray, which I prefer, just so easy to install.

Update:

I called Edelbrock and they said to use the Mr Gasket 405G for there intakes. It has no holes for the heated crossover, so I used the metal block off plates from Mondello. All the holes lined up good and went together well. Now I just have to figure out why Edelbrock makes an intake manifold and a carb for it...and no freakin brackets for the cables!!! :blam:

Mr Gasket neoprene gaskets really cant be beat.. I like to spray mine with WD 40 before installing them so they don't stick and rip when you pull the intake off in the future..
