If I get some 350 Vortec Heads, what casting#'s should I look for and which ones should I stay away from? Also, What are a good set of valve springs to give a higher max lift over or at .500?

It's unlikely you'll see any major performance differences between the 906 and 062 castings. Far as springs you'll have to have them machined to accept traditional springs, or you can buy a set of beehive springs that are a drop-in deal, and they're good to .550" or so.

I wouldn't go for a cam that peaks higher than 6,000 though.

you better get the top of valve guides grinded down .100 ....
originaly they tolerate around .500 lift ..better keep a safe margin !

I have a set of "062" vortec heads ,that I milled down the guides + ported + springs ....you`ll love the results

great idea , how much did the tool cost you?

I can't remember off the top of my head but the part #'s are 4732(arbor), 4726(guide cutter), 4721(seat cutter).
These are all comp cams tools.
