If I get some 350 Vortec Heads, what casting#'s should I look for and which ones should I stay away from? Also, What are a good set of valve springs to give a higher max lift over or at .500?

It's unlikely you'll see any major performance differences between the 906 and 062 castings. Far as springs you'll have to have them machined to accept traditional springs, or you can buy a set of beehive springs that are a drop-in deal, and they're good to .550" or so.

OK. Theyre the #906's. Ive heard about drop in springs from GM High Perf. These are the z28 springs. Supposedly good for .525 lift http://sdparts.com/details/scoggin-dickey-parts-center/sd1004. As this is my first spring upgrade. Do I need anything else with it like new retainers or something? What head gaskets would I use. Ive also heard thickness raises compression.
you better get the top of valve guides grinded down .100 ....
originaly they tolerate around .500 lift ..better keep a safe margin !

I have the #062 as well. I used the comp cams tools and a drill to cut the guides down. Worked just fine.
I can't remember off the top of my head but the part #'s are 4732(arbor), 4726(guide cutter), 4721(seat cutter).bigdan said:
