I'm considering a relay. I'm converting my SI charging system over to a CS 144 alternator. That way I don't have to worry about the fan draining too much power.

I did the CS144 swap a month before I did the mark VIII fan mod. Pretty good mod. I pulled one from the yard and got it rebuilt

The Mark VIII fans come out of the Lincoln Mark VIII's. The same fan can be found in Ford thunderbirds, which is how I found mine out of a mid 90's bird.

I saw in the yard that the thunderbirds had both clutch fans and the identical Mark VIII's electric fan. People probably call them that just because it is easier to find a Mark VIII in the junkyard than say a thunderbird which is a little more collectible. It's becoming a little harder to find the Mark VIII fans since everyone is using them. There were 10 Marks in my local yard and all of them had the electric fans picked. So keep your eyes out for the thunderbirds as the early and mid 90's birds are starting to turn up in the yards.
