The first SBC introduced in 1955 was 265 ci, or 4.3 liters.
It was produced for several years before being replaced by the 283 ci version.
The 267 was built from the late-'70s thru the early-'80s.
My old '79 Malibu wagon had one, as well as my '81 Monte...
The 265 ci L99 was built from '94-'96.
My old '96 Caprice had one.

What you have is probably the small block Olds 260 V8, which while it is a 4.3LT V8, its not the SBC (Chev) 4.3LT V8. To the best of my knowledge GM never built a '78-'88 A/G body car with the SBC 4.3 V8, since those engines were not available at the time that these cars were being built. Some G body cars were built with the Chev 4.3LT V6, but that was a V6, not a V8. I believe that some of the earlier ('79-'81) A body cars were built with the SBC 4.4LT (267 cu in) V8, but that engine was identified as a 4.4LT V8 on the emission label.Kansas Bu Wagon said:

Just trying to clarify this.
The sticker on my core support says 4.3L sbc, but I've read online that they're 4.4L. Not sure why they are referred as both but that what my car says. And it's most def an sbc.
Well, obviously, since you're there, and I'm not, I'm not going to argue the lettering on your emission label. All I'm saying, is that the SBC 262 cu in V8s, both the LV2 and the L99, are usually referred to as the 4.3LT V8, and the SBC 267 cu in V8 is usually referred to as the 4.4LT V8.
I knew about the 265 and 267 but never heard them called 4.3L because they were never referred to by liters from the factory.
the 4.3 "lt1" is new to me since I have not worked on those cars at all and they were apparently model specific.

I also have the '66-'67 Nova, Chevelle, Camaro dog dish caps on my car. I think they look cool. I'll have to get a current pic of the car with them.
