I say start simple. Drain that gas and start fresh, that way you eliminate that as a possibility. And be glad it's not winter. During the nasty winter of '77-'78 a buddy gassed up at a no-name place and as soon as he drove away the motor ran crappy. He got it home and the water in the fuel froze, sidelining his car for 2 months until it got above freezing again.
