Water in gas(SOLVED)

Re: Water in gas

I say start simple. Drain that gas and start fresh, that way you eliminate that as a possibility. And be glad it's not winter. During the nasty winter of '77-'78 a buddy gassed up at a no-name place and as soon as he drove away the motor ran crappy. He got it home and the water in the fuel froze, sidelining his car for 2 months until it got above freezing again.

Re: Water in gas

Sounds like the E10 gas phase separated, had it happen to my tractor and it dissolved the needle valve in it.

Well for the first time in 2 weeks I had a chance to get to the Monte. After putting my original Qjet back on I started to look over the distributor. I started wiggling the power wire into the coil to find that the wire was loose in the connector. The connector was tight which is what threw me off originally but further inspection showed the wire was coming out of the connector. I put a new connector on it and it started right up! Turned the idle down and played with the timing and now it runs like nothing was wrong at all. Just to think---I was on the verge of draining the tank

great that you found the problem and it was an easy fix and great that you posted that you solved it.... 😀

Ye im definatley relieved. I almost bought a new coil also but this one is still kicking, its been on over 10 engines in the past 23 years according to my dad....which makes it older than me  Looks like I will be able to enjoy it for another month or so.
