Ok I brought home my new (to me) 1987 Monte Carlo LS this weekend. It has the 4.3 l efi in it, and runs well on the street, but it has a weird idle when you rev it. It has 54,000 original miles on it, and the car is about 95% original stock. The previous owner, who bought it fromthe original owner about a year ago, only installed a few new parts....rotors/drums, plug wires, fuel pump, what I would call just maintenance items. When you first start it up, it starts ok, then the rpm drops some, then the idle levels out some and when it's in gear and driving, it seems to be ok. But at idle, if you rev it above say 1,500 rpm, it stumbles a lot. Never to the point of stalling or anything, but there is a big stumble and RPM drop then levels out again. This is my first venture into anything computer controlled, and I am so concerned about tweeking anything on this car in the fear of screwing up the computer or putting the check engine light on. I am used to how many turns to screw in the mixture screws on my q-jet. I still have to get in tune with what componants are first to star wearing down and breaking on these things. I know the great and mysterious Joe P is on these forums. He is always helping me with my dumb questions over on Classic Olds. So where do I begin??
