What a Nightmare

I got rear ended a year ago by an older woman driving a Honda minivan. I noticed when I was behind her, she seemed to be driving a little slower than normal. I stopped at the light up ahead, not paying attention to the car(s) behind. Next moment....Bammm! I was seeing stars.
This woman in the minivan hit me in the rear. I was okay...just shaken up. I think she might have been texting or on her phone....I couldn't prove it. She did no damage to the back of my '81 foxbody Capri, but her front bumper cover was a mess. It shifted the rear hatch a little....I straightened it out. I was fine, so I said forget it. The driver seat was bent back. I later discovered that it ripped a gash in the floor where the seat bolts up. I was able to push the metal together and welded it up. Other than the things I mentioned, the Capri didn't have a scratch on it.

The woman gave me a sob story about having open heart surgery, etc...of course, being the soft touch that I am, I felt sorry for her.

What amazes is me how we EVER managed to survive the daily commute without cellphones in the last century.

I wonder what it is that is so important that all of these people are on the phone all the time?

80-100 miles a day, see it everywhere...city law enforcement is just as big an offender as the general population in OKC

On the flip side: the wife got creamed in the front by an old lady (71) while she was sitting at a light, waiting to turn left. The older lady was making a right from the adjacent corner, got blinded by the setting sun, and "just turned and prayed". The man upstairs wasn't looking out for her and her mother that day!

For all the driving I do for work, I see to many drivers do what I call the "self gratifying crotch shot", the looking down at the phone as they text acting as they're not. They roll thru red lights & stop signs, lock up the brakes when they do look up. These are almost all my near misses from other drivers. But one of the best things was seeing a guy watch a movie on his I-phone while driving in heavy traffic.
