what can be the problem?

ok on my 84 MCSS i have an edelbrock 600cfm carb. normally when i start my car cold i have to pump the gas pedel a few times then turn the key and it starts right up, the past few times ive had to pump the gas pedel while turning the key in order for the car to start. sometimes it wont even start. could it be the carb? or something with ignition? please help

sounds like either the choke isn't working or isn't working properly...or the engine is flooding

x2 on the flooding. Try turning the key without pumping it and then slowly start pumping.

also, pull some/all of the spark plugs and see what color they are. i had a similar problem due to running rich, but i wasn't driving the car much

this was the last thing that happened to me before I never drove my cutlass again about 750 days back!

Dont be me - find the problem and fix it right away or you'll be sitting here check out other dudes cars instead driving !

When my car stop running, the last thing I did was bought some BULLSHIT gasoline and drove up a steep hill, knowing that the pin which is supposed to open the choke on carbuerator doesnt work. This was a poor decision to drive uphill w/out the proper airflow going through carbuerator! Check to make sure your pin is attached and opening the 'gate' - btw these arent the correct terminology for the parts im talking about ^^^^ 'pin' / 'gate' lol
