What do I tell the driveshaft shop?

If you are that dependant on your vehicle why are you changing something that isn't broken.
Because I have to. I dont want the stock dinky driveshaft behind either my current sbb or my future 400+hp/500ftlb sbb. Plus its 33 years old, rusty, and I don't want to waste the money on it. I'm also gonna be racing it from timebto time and I dont want a 33 old part that is smaller than the exhaust to be the weak point. Plus the car has to be running during the week.

Is my terminology correct in the original post?

Went to a local shop today. 370 for a new 3" shaft as described. Guy has done a few shafts for g bodies and turbo regals so he knew what I was after. Should be done by Friday. Yes, redoing mine would be cheaper. Yes its overkill for the power level Im at now. I dont care. It's piece of mind Im after. Not "i saved 300 bucks woohoo".

I agree with why you want to get a new shaft. The first thing I would do is buy a beater car to get around in. Then you can play with the Regal all you want and not worry about getting to work Monday morning. I been there. Mom and Pop will not loan you there car for ever.
No loan cars, that's why I got mine when I was 15. I was a "gift" of sorts, mainly just a "we had the money at the time, and we're tired of being taxi drivers".
When the regal went down the first time, i got my first job. rebuilt my first engine. Blew up my first engine. Bought my first car with my own money. Then rebuilt my second engine, and here we are. 😀

If my car is down, I have to hope I have a ride, or walk my sweaty *ss to work. I used to have a bicycle... I need to get one again. Keep my leg strength up.

By this winter I want to have a 4x4 something. Ideally I want a 70/71 wagoneer. They had SBB 350s and I know those motors inside and out. either that or a late 70s f150 short bed 4x4, hell I'd even take a D series dodge. Ain't no point in having a rwd truck in my eyes.

370 seems high, but if the dude has experience in Gs, it might be worth the extra cash. Is he reusing your trans yoke? It's a deal if you're getting a new yoke with.....
New everything.
