What Do You Tend To Look At First?

You just want something to go fast and beat the crap out of.
Something wrong with that? I got no use for trailer queens, but, then again, I have better ways to spend my time than sitting in a yawn chair behind my car all day that I just spent 3 days cleaning, too.

Not at all. I have cars and trucks I beat the crap out of but they are not cars I would take to a show or try to sell to someone with high praise.
I agree with you too on the trailer queens. My cars and truck will never be one as long as I own them.

One thing I should ad LOL.
I try to go to a lot of local cruise nights. Theres usually one going on just about every night within a 35 minute drive during the warm months. If theres a guy my age sitting in a lawn chair next to his car thats taking up 2 spaces and hes puffing away on a big fat cigar I wont even glance at his car while I walk past. Hes usually one of the deep pocket a-holes that doesnt even own a tool box. Am I being too harsh ?? LOL

When I had my 85 Monte SS for sale a guy came up to me at a local cruise night and went on to tell me my car was only worth 7 or 8K. This was a 2 owner car with super low miles. Every time I'd see him he'd make some stupid comment. One day he told me about a friend of his that was offered some crazy price for his original owner SS. About an hour later that car pulled into the parking lot. I took a look at the car since he was offered so much for it. Dash was cracked. Paint was scratched all over the place. Lots of miles. The hood insulation was hanging and the guy told me mice got into it. This was a high mile car that wasnt that clean. I walked over to the guy and asked him why he thought his friends car was worth thousands more than mine. His answer ? His friends car was black and that made it worth more than mine which was white. Needless to say that was the end of the conversation that night. Granted, my car wasnt a Barrett Jackson quality piece but it was pretty clean. To be honest I wish I still owned it. I sold it before I bought my wagon for $10K.

The title of some of these threads makes me smile -

I was going to add that it depends on if I'm behind her or in front of her.

I look at stance and how well the wheels and tires fit for the look and purpose of the car. Sometimes it's the trickiest to achieve correctly but can easily make the biggest difference.

Everything else is secondary. The worst condition body and a filthy motor and a ripped up interior don't matter to me if the stance is nailed.

If it’s a show car I don’t look at all. If it’s a driver I look underneath. If it’s rusty underneath I look no further.

the right wheels will make any car look good, rusty or not. The right wheels don’t keep a car from being a POS.

When I go to shows I really don’t look at the newer cars that anyone can just go buy off a dealer floor that to me just doesn’t peak my interest. I prefer to look at the older stuff I’d say 02 and back because I do look at some of the odd 90s GM cars. I also tend to lean to the oddities when I’m at shows looking. When I put the Indy together I decided to leave it in it’s worn exterior clothes and people really seem to enjoy seeing it like that. I also have shiny vehicles like my Typhoon that I show. I do drive my cars so there not perfect but if you were to look under them they will have some dirt and grime maybe some surface rust but nothing extravagant like a northern car.
