This wheel is on my boss’s 2018 ram dually
He felt a vibration that got worse and worse
Took it in for alignment
Went to two shops ‘cause first one couldn’t figure out how to do an alignment… lol
Then this happened about a week later
It is now in shop getting new parts
Any ideas ?

Either overtorquing or crosethreading the wheel studs. Impact guns can easily destroy wheel studs.

probably didn't start them by hand but spun them right on with the gun? those lugs sheared right off

I'm not too sure how that would happen but I'd be replacing all 16 lugs and nuts across the front for sure. Also checking the rears too.

It happened when he was driving downhill at speed with a load of 2x4
Felt a “new” vibration that got continuously worse until it was alarming enough that he had to pull over and look
That’s when pic was taken , while waiting on a wrecker
Another quarter mile he’d have been driving a tricycle lol

There's a TSB/recall on that. It's from over-torqing.

Oh, I don't think there's any torquing involved....more like give it ALL the ugga duggas.

Torquing would imply a damn was given

I see that several times a yr. Lugs werent tight enough and loosened themselves. Rims floating on the wheel studs tend to flex/bend and eventually break the studs off.
