240° is not that bad and you won't damage a 350....we ran a crate 602 in our race cars, 350 with vortec heads, and we would hit 240° and up and never had any problems with the engine

So is that normal for hot weather and driving a little hard more or less. She wasn't lacking power by any means at all and did not over heat. I didn't even hear any bubbling from the radiator like it wanted to erupt.

You might have a vacuum leak which can cause hotter operating temps. Double check the ignition timing too as the dist may have slipped. Late timinv can cause a engine to run hotter than it should.

You said your gauge only goes up to 250. So was it pegged at 250 for a while (meaning it was really something higher than 250 deg you just don't know what is was) or was it really 250. Most gauges go to about 290 or more. 250 shouldn't be an issue but I'd be worried that it was much hotter.

No It never got hotter then 240 and it was very brief. It was running around 230.

No matter how you slice it, the cooling system is not up to snuff. Make sure the thermostat isn't stuck shut, there's no combustion gases in the coolant, the fan is working, the water pump is moving coolant, and the radiator isn't plugged. It's pretty easy to do: just pull the radiator cap, start it up, and observe things as it warms up....
