What gauge wire is battery cable?

I don't know what size is stock but I always considered factory size too small especially once you do upgrades, I pretty much run 1/0 welding cable for most stuff.

Im not sure on the stock size either, but I agree with 565bb that it could/should be upgraded.
Considering that your not doing a 100% stock resto and your doing the cables anyway, I would definatly go with an upgrade.
And I suggest at least 4 gauge.
 
We need to know the load. If you put the battery in the trunk it will need to be larger as you will have voltage drop.
 
I believe stock size is 4 gauge, but I have seen 2 gauge also on some longer cables.
