Yes, from the same mind that has given you a few other useless questions, here's another one. Basically, what car is the least interesting, engaging driving/ownership experience you can think of? Something so dull that it is neither notoriously bad in any area nor known for being exceptional at anything. Something that is the American Cheese of cars. It's just an appliance like a washing machine that is used for transportation. A car so dull you can literally loose in a parking lot because it is just so damn bland. I have my answer, but will withhold it to see what everyone else thinks.

suzukis actually (disclaimer, one of my sites)
:D

But yeah, after driving a metro for a while I would have to agree. Along with the anything Honda/Toyota bit. I would also add the Ford Taurus/500 family to that. Along with probably any minivan ever created. (Guilty of that as well!)

Although the Toyota pickups I have owned have been dead nuts reliable, they are indeed extremely boring. I have literally fell asleep at stop signs driving them. Then have all been base model 4x4 stripped down jobs with economy engines which I'm sure lessens the excitement factor, but I have never wanted or needed a performance or luxury pickup truck. The A/G cars I have were/are sleepers, but for whatever reason they are fun to drive, I guess it is because they are well preserved and not ratty more over their lack of modern day performance.

The van I drive at work is an '07 Caravan. The best excitement it provides is that it has a horrible part throttle detonation between 30-40 MPH so bad it sounds like it really needs to blow up and as most Caravans usually do I look forward to the time when that comes. Sad to say it has the best fit and finish of any Chrysler product I have ever seen, something Chrysler learned from Daimler before Daimler said goodbye to the UAW.

The little Suzuki/Geo/Chevy sh*te-boxes sold in North America are built at the CAMI plant in Ingersoll, Ontario. The little car designs like the Aveo are from GM's counterpart in Korea, the wonderful Daewoo.

The car I was thinking of the most was a 1999 or so Toyota Corolla VE. An interior that is as monochrome as anything I have ever seen with not even a black accent piece to break up the gray. Reliable, but not fast, etc. An amazingly unremarkable car in every respect. Same goes for the Geo/Chevy Prism of the same time frame. At least a Geo Metro is remarkable for it's fuel economy, the 82 Malibu for the pure misery of driving it, and the Tracker is kind of unique as it can be had in 4 wheel drive and has a good break over angle because of it's short wheelbase. The Hondas can be fun to drive if you get the right one ( Sorry, but I like Civics with the right parts) and are remarkable for their reliability. The Corolla is the car you could imagine a Communist government designing for it's people as the "Universal Transportation Pod". It's sort of a modern day Lada Riva, not fun, not pretty, not interesting, but it will get you somewhere with absolutely no style or joy whatsoever. I use the Lada because there have been other "People's Cars" which were quirky and odd yet endearing for that reason. The VW Type one (KDF Wagen), Mini, Citroen 2CV, Hindustan Ambassador, and even the Saschrang Trebant 605 all had at least some sort of character-even if bad- that made them have a following. No one will miss the 99 Corolla when they are no longer on the road. Someone will miss the others. The only other cars of recent memory which were so devoid of character that come to mind are the Yugo, Hyundai Elantra, Century/Celeberty/6000STE/Cutlass Ciera quadruplets and the Ford Contour/Mercury Mystique. Okay, throw the Taurus, Sable, Lumina and some Mopars so bad I don't remember them on there along with the Camry. Yet any of them is more exciting than a 99 Corolla. Because, even a Yugo GV has more character than a Corolla.

Right.

I saw a grass roots racing magazine with a Yugo in the 12's for the quarter mile. It used hybrid Fiat engine/transmission parts.

The Corolla and all variants such as the GEO prizm are definitely the winners. They suck all around but manage to keep living on. I hate them.

The second generation, B12 Nissan Sentra. I'm sorry, I know a lot of people like Sentras, but I hate it. Icky icky icky, ptooi. I've known quite a few people that had these 70 horsepower *ss-draggers, and they were... awful. Most uncomfortable cars I've ever driven. Interiors were about as ergonomic as a cinderblock. And God forbid you have to haul more than two people up a mild incline. A small dog could pull more weight.

Also up for the award is the venerable Ford Tempo, in all it's lack of glory. The one saving grace for the Tempo is that regardless of what you do to it, it will not die. And the little levers between the seats that, when you pull them up, a light on the dash says "please do not pull lever". Or something fantastic like that (it's been a while).

anything that says geo on it! older ford tarus, escort..... i personally think most cares are boring and generic becasue with 99% of new cares people drive you can drive down any major road and see at least one of the same make/model/color, i hate it and thats why i drive unusual cars that stand out and are unique. my cadillac i have owned for years is the ONLY one i have ever seen anywhere(includes in town, salvage yards and tons of ebay searching) becasue it was in a more rare sky blue and it came with a factory moonroof AND a full white dealer installed simulated convertable top, the blazer is slammed and decked out pretty decent, the riviera, well you just dont seee them anymore and it is a rare color of tan and is tinted. my cutlass is the mose generic but not for long, and the regal will be the most far out of the 5 cars i own at this point. generic boring cars suck!

The only thing I will say in the B12 Sentra's defense is that it is super reliable and fuel efficient. I would rock one before I would rock a Corolla- especially the hatchback or coupe. As for the Tempo/Topaz, yeah, I thought of that one too. Horribly boring car, not too good on gas, not really ugly, not really pretty. It's kind of the 80's Corolla (yes, I know they made a Corolla in the 80's- but it was RWD for 1/2 the decade and can be made cool).
