For me it was fun showing up down the track with a car that looked like a hoopty and showing all the teenage terdstang owners what a hoopty could do. Also shut a lot of youngster up on the street to. O ya i could also throw some lumber in the back an still drive my high 11second hoopty all day.

I honestly was never a fan of station wagons, that was until I got my first Jeep (titled as station wagon, lol), I then realized how great they were, now I couldn't imagine not having one, . If anything were to happen to my malibu to where I couldn't fix it, a wagon would definitly take its place 8) .

And lets not forget to mention that ALL of today's wildly popular "SUV"s are nothing more than fancy, ahem, station wagons.

sad but true. Great stories everyone. jack you have owned your wagon for that long?!!! thats awesome!!! I dont think a suv should be classified as a wagon. my mothers 96 gmc jimmy said wagon on the title and to me it still is a s10, that you can put more people in but a s10 none the less. and if thats the case is a suburban classified as a wagon? you know theres only two things about gbody wagons that i would change. 1 is rear windows that roll down. 2 is a rear facing third seat. i always thought that was the coolest the ever! my best friends first car was a mint 1990 caprice wagon with the rear facing seat. i miss that car and all the trouble we got into in it. hehe

Well, my NYS station wagon registration says-"suburban"- and my Elcamino was also registered as a "suburban". I think a lot of todays "SUV" s should be called a UAV, or "Urban Assault Vehicle".

When I was pretty small, my dad owned a blue 1956 Ford Ranch Wagon. It looked a lot like the one below, the only thin missing is a little towheaded 5 year old boy climbing all over it. The seats were vinyl and had lots of different brands burned into them along with steer skulls, horseshoes, and other things that might be ranch-related. Like most kids back then, I loved anything western. cowboys, Indians, ranches, horses, guns, etc., and this car just reeked of all that stuff. Wonderful!

I would play in the back seat on long trips- no seat belts back then! - with all my cowboy stuff and the car felt like another big toy my dad had bought for me (not as good as a horse, but pretty close) . Plus my dad would haul lots of things in it, huge loads that I didn't think would fit, but always did. It seemed to me there wasn't anything that he couldn't fit in there somehow. I try to do the same thing these days with my wagon.

We owned other cars over the years- Fords, Chevys, Pontiacs; a few wagons, most not. But wagons just 'feel' right.

I was like Oldsmoletick, were I really wasn't into wagons. Till about a few years back, I got really in to G-Bodies’, and I would find myself going to the wrecking yards almost every day. I found myself needed a hauler, and thought about going the pick-up route, but I really liked K5's as well. So I wasn't really sure witch way I wanted to go, till I started noticing G-body wagons more and more.

A year and a half ago, my old lady had my first born, and I said to myself. I really need a Familymobile, and what perfect time to invest in a G-Body Wagon!!!! Honestly, I like my wagon more than I do my Malibu . I find my self day dreaming of Vacations spots i want to take the Fam, and what better way with a G-Body wagon 8). I'm still really excited of having a wagon!!!

Here's a picture of the Old Gal:
