What transmission did a 3.8 litre have in a 1981 Malibu?

I thought that older gm 4 cylinder cars had the th200, and the v-6 cars had the th250 (like my '81 does), and v-8 cars with th350. My pan says metric on it and looks identical to a th350, you can tell them apart by the bolt/nut looking thing behind the transmission cooler lines. If it has that, then it is a th250, which are very weak trannies. Basically if your car didn't come with a V-8 your transmission is probably better for scrap, as is mine.

you either have the th200 or th250 which is a weaker version of the th350.. my 83 came with a th350c from the factory even tho it was 3.8 liter (buick) powered
