Thanks I believe it is the 200 metric, but I'll check the pan tomorrow to be sure.

you could have the th350c, a th250C or the 200metric. the 250 and 350 trannies are 3 speed trans that have a lock up torque converter. the 200 metric is a small 4 speed trans with a lock up torque convertor. those are the most common.

The 200 Metric is not a 4 speed transmission. It's still a 3 speed. The only 4 speed in a g-body is the 200-4r.

You can not squeal the tires of a 3.8 no matter how hard you try.

The hell you can't! Ive squealed the tires once before. It wasnt any monster burnout or anything, but they did spin. And it wasn't difficult, either.

What he said ^

It was my understanding that as-delivered, the 3.8 Buick (231)engine cars got TH350s, and the 3.8 Chevrolet (229)engine cars got TH200s...both which would have been "upgraded" to "C" units in 1980 model year production.

Lots of people mistake TH250Cs for 350s, as noted above, the band adjuster on the pass side of the case is the big tipoff.

MANY TH200s were swapped for TH350s early in the cars' lives upon failure of the TH200s.

Personal experience with TH200 suggest they are alright at low power levels...I put about 45000 on a rebuilt V6 TH200 behind a 350 out of an '88 Chev truck before it failed rather spectacularly.

Any v6 powered cutlass or regal that I've been around had the th-200/th-200c. Not a great trans IMO. I sure never spun any wheels with my old v6, unless it was raining  mine was tired & was a gutless oil drinking turd.

I will actually take back a v6 with a 350 turbo doin a burnout. My ex's 84 Cutlass would turn a tire on dry pavement. She was running 15x7 Camaro ralleys with 255/60/15's. It wasn't spectacular but got my uncle laughing since i did it in front of his house and the car itself looked like sh*t anyway.

Well, tire spinning may not be practical, logical, useful, or serve any constructive purpose in a v6 car, but it sure as all hell is possible, and is not difficult. I did one burnout the day I got the car, right outside the driveway, a very small burnout at that, but the tires did spin. Let me add it wasn't wet or raining either. I do agree the th200 (and yes, that is what is in my car) isn't anything to brag about, but it's not bad either.

I tried! honest I did. I guess I just suck at burn outs.

My car in its current state I can squeak very easy. I would not do a burn out though, not in Chicago! I would be arrested, beaten, raped and clubbed driving a car like mine!

 :wtf: Damn what would happen if you rolled up in a mustang?! or at least made your car look more presentable, would there be difference?! I know Chicago and Detroit are town not to f**k around in but damn
