I can tell you my 88 Cutlass sounded amazing with Shorty headers, 2.5" custom down pipes, compact X pipe and the back half of the 2.5" Hooker GN cat back exhaust with Aerochamber mufflers and exits behind the wheels. I moved the same system onto my 70. Sounds louder, much more droning. Tried with no tail pipes, unbearable. Full length tail pipes only helped a liitle. Our G bodies must have better acoustics than the earlier A bodies.
I found one more clip to add to the comparison (when the car had super 10's without H pipe.) I updated the original post, check it out!
