The difference happens when your stamped, steel wheel has a less than regular center section (Olds SSx, Frod Mag 500, etc). You can get the 5 flats somewhat even on a cone, but very seldom perfect.
Oh, they've heard of it; they just don't have any tire monkeys that know how or never bought the fitting for the balancer. Most wheels have been hub-centric for a long time, now.why is it that tire shops don't know the difference and never even heard of lugcentric?

I know there are some late model Toyota's that have lugcentric wheels. I THINK even some GM's too..
