Whenever using spacers NEVER and I do mean NEVER buy the cheap crap that is sold. You are dealing w/ your wheels, this is not a place to be buying cheap!

I have used (and still do) spacers with NO issues. I only used the billet spacer/adapters and I replace the lug studs w/ ARP studs. Remember your cars studs are at or close to 30yrs old and were not factory designed for abuse(ie. increased loads).

and you need to check the axles on a regular basis to see if any cracks develop. The spacers give the wheels extra leverage and put more stress on the axle in the flange area.

find yourself a 64 to 67 Chevelle rear. They are 2.5" wider then the G body rear so you won't have to use spacers and you'll keep the wheels on the car.

That's a really specific rear end to try and find. Will this one bolt up then?

I am actually looking to replace my rear end with an 8.5" so if I can kill 2 birds with one stone here that'd be great. I can weld, but I'm not confident enough to weld my own axle mounts. Price is a big factor, but I know of a guy around here who should be able to do this though.
As long as I'm at it, I might as well convert to a ladder bar/panhard rod setup though...
It's either get a 8.5" or spend $200 on 28 spline axles for the 7.5" differential I have from the donor car(98 Camaro). I'm leaning toward the 8.5" so if there's one that I'm better off with that won't take much to get it to fit I'm willing to give it a shot.

Good to know about the axles.
