have to buy a new battery, thanks to my alternator. i bought one MAYBE two years ago, for like 40 bucks or something close. today its closer to 100? wtf? Did the EPA pass new standards about car batteries or something? this cant be natural inflation.

Jumped up a couple times over the last year or so. Prolly the price of metal.

Well our most expensive battery at AutoZone (3 yr free replacement) was around $70. That was about four years ago, and now they are up to $89 - $104. They went up gradually, but spiked when oil was sky high. Oil eventually went down, but our batteries never did.

it's the price of lead... started going up right around the time you bought yours...

depending on where you bought yours, you might have some pro-rating left on the old one... most batteries will have a free replacement period, then be pro-rated on price for replacement, so if yours was truly bad, you shouldn't have had to pay full price for the new one... just the adjusted difference.

the problem i had was the old one came from wal-mart. a desperate, and sad attempt to save money. i tried to return it, but the worlds best and brightest do not work at wal-mart's tire and lube express. after 15 minutes of waiting for someone to ask what i need as three people repeatedly walked past me, i gave up and chalked it up to a learning experience.

Last time I went to Auto-Zone they where all wearing shoes that had Velcro on them instead of laces, I didn't think any of them was smart enough to figure out a pro-rate. Two of them where chewing gum The third one didn't, seem to grasp that task. so...
I went To Sam's Club and bought an Optima Red top. That way I wont have to dick with any battery BS. for 7 0r 8 years.

I'm sorry I have to LOL. You went to Wal-Mart and nobody helped you. So you left. That's nice! Half the people I know would have had security called on them, cuz they would have last their damn minds in there. I can hear them screaming and cursing already.

Don't know whats out your way but i just bought a battery from Costco $63 its like 700 cca 3 year full replacement after that prorated up to like 84 months the last 1 said 100 months but they only seem to last bout 3 year. I dont run them in the winter and Im really bad about hooking up the battery tender lol (lazy I own 3) I just bring it back and get a new 1 free , but like I said try a wholesale store BJ's, Sam's, Costco gonna be the cheapest around

Funny thing is Sams Club, is Walmart... You really rate Walmart any better than Autozone?

The only chain auto store I never had a problem with was Advanced Auto, but I know lots of other people have had problems. I've had problems with AutoZone, Rielly's, Napa, PepBoys, and CarCraft. I work at a Napa, lots of people think Napa is better quality than most other Auto Parts stores. I'd personally invite anyone that thinks that to walk around the warehouse and find a part that doesn't have "made in; indonesia, taiwan, china, korea, etc." on it. All auto parts suck, be prepared whenever you do anything on your car, to do it two or three times because of defective foreign made parts.
