just ordered the flowtechs 🙂!!!!!
I hope you decided to chip in for ceramic coated headers. Not only more HP,but less engine compartment heat, low maint., & they look better

but if it's going on a new engine, the break in will destroy the ceramic coating. plus the flowtechs are only coated on the outside. Jet-Hot coated mine inside and out after break in.

will wraps be suffice? or do I really need em coated? Im running outta money and I wanna get it running.

it's not something that's necessary. what i'd do is break in the engine, pull the headers and just repaint them.. you can get VHT paint which is pretty durable, there's also ceramic paint which might actually keep temps down.
i don't really like wraps as they trap water. unless you're in the desert the tubes will rot out pretty fast.

OK so I can paint em myself then, and If I see the paint chipping, just pull em off and paint again right?

as you can see, break in pretty much destroys the point.

ok its all good now. I talked to my girlfreinds dad(biggest car nerd I know) and he said just bring em ober there and he would help me sandblast em before I put new paint on.

Okay, three weeks late here, but I'll give my two cents. I used Doug Thorley Tri-Y headers on my '78 Malibu with the stock 2bbl 305. With a single 3" exhaust with hi-flo cat and glasspack it sounded great; open up the cut-out behind the cat and it was awesome; unbolt the Y-pipe B4 the cat and the sound was unbelievable. Perhaps it was just the engine. I always had people mistaken it for a worked up small block or a stock big block lol. I regret selling that car🙁.

i went with flowtechs. i love them. i guess the exhaust shop had a hell of a time with the pass. side header as the th350 was in the way. it ended up costing me 3x what he quoted. :yell:

i had soooo much trouble with spark plugs that i bought the shorty header spark plugs that were on the shelf at auto zone. they aren't performance or anything but damn they helped getting the plug wire boots away from the headers.
