Who would carry a stock style in all stainless, all I found on Ebay is spun type. I think Magnaflow makes all stainless but trying to watch cost (said they guy who just bought a Pypes kit & new G Force crossmember.)

I think most cats are stainless now including stock replacements, maybe something like this.

Pagrunt, where did you get your G-force crossmember? Summit seems to sell only their house brand, which looks like G-Force, but....

Ordering them from O'Reilly's I could get a pair for $127 out the door (military discount, $10 coupon, Pa's 6%.) Looks like this may do the trick.

Since you used cats (plural) and referenced Pypes I can only assume you'll need two. Not knowing anything else about your combo, I'd say just get some OE replacement type cats and weld them in. Modern designs are far less restrictive than the original pellet style so I can't see any reason to gut them. You aren't likely to notice a power loss unless you do some before and after dyno pulls. The upside is that your car won't have an "exhaust" smell when you're sitting in the Taco Bell drive thru.

I agree. I know some of the hard-core hot rodders love the smell of un-treated exhaust, but honestly, I just find it nauseating. Modern cats don't sacrifice much power, but keep you from gagging sitting at a stoplight. Unless it's for a full-blown race car, I'd probably run them.

I am even considering those Magnaflow converters for my 70 Cutlass. Another good thing about modern converters is they almost never plug up, plus much less restrictive to begin with than the old pellet converters and weigh a lot less, along with being much more compact.

Being that you have inspections I would probably look for a cat that at least has a heat shield so it has more of a stock style look to it since some of the high flow ones now don't even look like cats.

we have environmental enforcement officers driving around who can pull you over for no reason. They are pretty strict ( it's all about money of course, $385 for a ticket) and when I have been pulled over they have taken a look for cats and they said they were surprised I had cats on my GP....I have two of these

The stock Monte SS converter is a pretty high flowing unit. Modern cats are 3 way converters, the older 3 ways that g bodies use require the smog pump to supply oxygen to complete the reaction. The newer style 3 way converters no longer require a smog pump but probably are not certified for g bodies.

If your car was originally computer controlled, it won't pass with the computer system disabled.
