Who else hates CUV's?

Also, your CUV or crossover or mommy-mobile is NOT an SUV - those, by definition, had full frames.

Someone is living in the ice age. I'm not a crossover guy either but there are some pretty large vehicles w/o a full frame. The Durango and Pilot for example.

and hell, where is it in the definition? SUV = Sport Utility Vehicle. Full-frame being no part of that equation

sad thing is, the wife wants one...doesn't care what brand it is, as long as it has a sunroof....:wtf: trying to steer her to something the size of an explorer or the like, and something without that d#$ned cvt transmission. my niece just shelled out $4200 for one in her Murano, because noone around here can rebuild them.

everyone wants the latest and greatest gadgets, but want to know why it costs so much when they break down. I'll keep my older stuff, even my F150 has manual windows and only a single disc player!

Would you wear your wife's clothes? Then why would you want to drive her car?

That is a function of advanced engineering - none of the puddle jumpers we are focused on here qualify.

I want to barf when I see an X1.

My stepdaughter has a Dodge Journey and there is nothing on this Earth that gets under her skin faster than when I call it a van.

CUV's are just the sad result of carmakers trying to make a vehicle that will do everything ok instead of doing one or two things really well.

Why do you hate station wagons so much?

you're not wrong. Why nobody sells a proper station wagon any more (at least here) is beyond me. "Ew station wagon yuck!" "kewl its a 4 door 'crossover' with a tailgate *fawns*" I don't get it.

I will give an SUV a pass if its unibody, but it HAS to be RWD base, ie new WK2 Grand Cherokee, v8, I call that OK.

Even the new explorer is supposed to be RWD base.

I too hate them! I call them diaper mobile's. You either have kids in diapers or you are old enough to wear adult diapers🙂. Cars are dying because of those abominations. Hell even mini van's have nearly disappeared or became them. Our Challenger has the big touch screen and nearly every option those things will have and doesn't look bloody awful.

People could drive SUV's like a tahoe that lasts 300k miles, hold value well, and has towing capacity but they get poor mileage and cost a lot

People could buy a mini van which are cheap, hold a lot, and and really utilitarian with decent MPG but they "look dumb"

Buddy of mine has a 2009 carvan his mom ditched when all the kids left the home since she wanted a car again. It got offered to all of his siblings before it got traded in, 60k miles and $4 grand was the trade in value, so they could all get it for 4 grand. Every one of his siblings turned it down (5 of them), even his sister with 4 kids, who bought a passat 2 weeks later for 3 times the price. He put stow and go seats out of a salvage yard caravan in it, and uses it as a drunk van for DD'ing his buddies home from the bar, hauling plywood and lumber (heck I borrowed it to haul 10ft sticks of steel), and driving it with no shame.

People could but wagons (even a subaru) which holds basically the same amount but doesnt sacrifice too much handling or storage, but nooo its a wagon.

People are dumb, I GUARANTEE CUV's will be like wagons and vans are looked at today. Just takes time.

Because she’s 5’2” and can hardly get into my f150, and doesn’t trust my g’s. We end up using her mustang for trips or when we go anywhere that doesn’t involve hauling something.
