Reporting back on the brake vacuum canister I installed. For the time I drove before getting ready for the paint job to start
It seemed to work very good. The first application of the brakes is always the best. If you just hold it with constant
pressure and do not pump the brakes it works fine. I would say about a 20 to 30 % improvement over what I had.
I can say the vacuum cans do help in some cases. I used to have one on my 355 sbc, but with the big cam i had it barely made a difference. Recently on doing my resto, i opted for the summit brand (actually CVR brand logo on the motor) electric pump with everything being contained in one unit without the need fir separate solenoids, valves, etc. The up front cost hurt (i think around $260), but no joke upon test driving my cutlass is honestly stops better than my 07 mazda 6 daily driver! I trunk mounted mine and ran 3/8" vacuum line to the booster and it works like a champ. Hope your can keeps helping man.
I had a big electric booster assist on my first engine. It was $260. When I swapped to the GM crate
motor I sold it off thinking I would not need it anymore. With that the brakes were a little more responsive
than now with the $50 booster can,. So it's fine for my driving style.
