Let's get something straight here pal, I didn't state being a 'brand loyalist' was 'better'. I simply stated I think it's pretty silly if someone ( you in this case ) can't even understand WHY someone would prefer to be a 'brand loyalist'. I certainly can understand WHY someone wouldn't want to be a 'brand loyalist' ( whether I agree with them or not isn't relevent ), but YOU can't in any way even understand why others prefer being a 'brand loyalist'? That is why I called you ignorant.
IMO, your original post came off pretty insulting/confrontaional to those who don't feel the same way you do.
ROFL
ROFL
ROFL some more.
It doesn't matter who calls who ignorant, because you truly are. Read the thread again. And again. And however many more times it takes you to get it through your thick skull. Where do I ever express the idea that I can't understand why someone would want to be a brand loyalist? I do know why people are brand loyalists, and none of the reasons have anything to do with tangible benefits. They have everything to do with getting a warm fuzzy over having a "matching set" or some type of nostalgia, or some feeling that you're doing something different than the others. If that's what you want, GO BALLS DEEP.
If that's your Kool-Aid, drink it. But the OP suggests that the quantity of Gen III/IV reading material, and cars with said engines in them, is somehow a problem for him.
He's complaining about the "popular kids", which is something that someone who actually thrives on finding different solutions to fit their unique needs, would never do.
I don't give a crap if, in your opinion, my post came off confrontational. Your delicate sensibilities are of no consequence to me. Yes, I took some jabs at the OP. He deserved it. When you say things like "It's like they don't make any other engines anymore." What do you expect? No more SBCs are showing up in the junkyards. No more Oldsmobile tall decks are showing up in the junkyards. This means less people are going to be having them in their cars. This combined with all the REAL, TANGIBLE benefits of the Gen III/IV platform make people want to put them in their cars. This in turn, drives magazine readership.
So what? Pull up a rocking chair on your porch and mutter something about "kids these days".
Or how about "Theres something to be said for being different and being brand loyal."
Really. What is that something? Nothing consequential. Think about it. The OPs post is completely inconsequential.
It amounts to whining, at best, and the suggestion that others should "protest" along with him.
And really what my posts amount to, is the suggestion for him to suck it up, put on his big-girl panties, and friggin' deal with the reality that Gen III/IV engines are popular, and it's gonna be a while until something else takes their place. And I'd bet he'll whine when that happens too, cause he just got into Gen III/IVs!
