I was wondering about electric carb and manual. If I get an electric do I have to buy the conversion.

There is the article on it.

I am just wondering how hard they are, cause I see a lot of things to be done. I also was wondering how much this cost to convert it.

I am just trying to put a carb on and not even worry about anything besides the adapter.
So if anyone could confirm this I will greatly appreciate it.

Thank you all and God Bless.

If you buy a carb with electric choke or manual just leave it that way. Are you wanting a manual choke or something? You just hook a power wire up to an electric choke and for a manual you run a choke cable into the passenger compartment of the car.

So if I buy an electric I can just leave it alone and run it witout a conversion kit?
I am just wanting a carb no matter what it is.

Do you have a heated air choke now? On a Q-jet or Dualjet? If so, it's super easy to convert to electric choke. I pirate the whole assembly off computer carbs which guys practically toss for free.

No choke at all? What year is the carb?

According to your other carb thread, you said you were buying an Edelbrock carb off of 'LIMEY', but here you're saying you have a Qjet. So exactly what carb are you running? Did you fix your Qjet and decided to keep it, or are you still going with the Edelbrock?

Also, are you sure you're not confusing 'manual' choke with 'hot air' choke? I ask because you say you have a manual choke but people with cars like yours very seldon run manual chokes. I can't even recall the last time I've even seen a manual choke in a car.

IMO, for you the best thing would be to run a Qjet with a factory hot air setup. That way everything bolts on and fits perfect and it's easier for you.

PS You're running a Chubby engine aren't you? Do you have the Chubby style side fuel inlet on your Qjet too? To be honest, I don't know how the Chubby style hot air chokes were set up, but at least if you get the pieces you'll easily be able to install them yourself with no fuss.

How about posting the carb #'s and maybe a picture, choke side. Up to 72' probably had the well type choke, 73' to 79' had the hot air, 80' and beyond should be electric. The hot air is easily converted to electric, but the well type is almost impossible because the linkage on the choke side is so different . But I prefer the 75' and up Q-jets anyway and THAT would be an affordable upgrade.

See I was going to buy the edelbrock off of him, but he sold it so I was going to keep my q jet and rebuild it.
But a very good friend of mine had a new edelbrock he wasn't using so I bought it from him for a 100.
But his is a electric as well.
But I already bought his edelbrock, so now no turning back.
But I am fine with getting the 9.99 conversion kit and the 15.00 adapter, Its just I was wondering if I had to get it or could I just avoid the hassle?

But yeah I have the chubs engine, Yes sir It does have the inlet on the passenger side.
