Has anyone ever replaced a windshield a pillar? Noticed on my passenger side windshield a pillar has a section that is rusted bad, probably from the leak around the windshield for a couple years when I first got it. Just trying to find out if it can be done and if so how?

My Malibu has some rust on the left side from a bad windshield replacement years ago. I have a donor section from another car for it. One of these days I’m going to pull the car off the road to do the repair. It’s a major job that will involve pulling the hood and fender off, and the dash.

post some pics it would be easer if you just do the outside if the inside is good

It seems to only be at the bottom of the pillar in the door jam area

good news they sell the outter pillars on line for commonly rusted out a pillars .bad news you have to take out the windshied fender door and the drip molding and you will need to cover everything to protect from welding sparks and fire or you might be able to metal patch it

Thanks sounds like it is going to be a lot of work! Anyone else have any ideas or suggestions I’m open to all. Let me know what you guys would do?

if that's not a job you can do, i wouldn't be able to any work cuz of bein crippled aside from switching out stuff in upper door panel area lol. now i've had 2 cars done and 2 things you gonna need #1 save up $ but that's no good if #2 find a willing person to do the work for you doesn't appear. i'll say it was easier to find a body man in 2001 than it was in 2022 in area of RI where i'm at. which reminds me i should do a post on thr last guy to do my car cuz he moved to TX.
