Hey guys. My windshield washer pump does not work. How would I go about to diagnose the problem. Basically power is going to the pump. When i press in the windshield wiper switch to washer, you can hear the pump click on. But no suction or anything. Is this just a bad pump or is there more to the electrical wiring than simply getting juice from the pink wire?

the washer pump runs off the wipers on my car so its mechanical
i just took mine apart and cleaned everything nicely and grease up the gears

did you check the hose attached to the cap on the reservoir? If that hose has fallen off or is cracked your pump may be sucking air

I bought an electric washer pump ($15) that I mounted directly to the backside of my original washer jug so you can't see it and it has a smooth flow instead of the ratchety factory set up.
I mounted a switch on the dash for the washer pump and modified the wiper motor pump cover to eliminate the original built in pump and I even left the factory cap on the washer jug and have a dummy hose coming off the top so it still looks factory.
I bought something like this but from a local store:

Check you have a good electric supply to the pump, try taking a hot wire from the battery direct to the pump, if it's still no good try running a ground direct to the battery negative terminal as well. If hooking up the pump this way doesn't work you have a bad pump. I think it more likely you have a bad ground or supply though. If the pump is good check you have battery voltage getting to the pump with a multimeter, just as important make sure it is leaving the pump via a good ground as well.

I had the same problem. I wound up going with an electric replacement. After the fact I messed with the old one and it works off a cam that has to fit properly onto the wiper arm and makes it pump the water. When power goes to it a little metal arm makes the cam engage. Unless you are really wanting to keep things original the electric is the way to go.

Yeah that cam thing was shot, so I replaced the pump with an OEM style. Bad mistake should of went with that electric aftermarket unit. That thing barely has pressure to squirt out the water.

I got to messing with mine, it seems to work similar to an old school squirt gun and the little cam is like the trigger. After changing the pump now to the electric my switch is sticking so now I'm off to find a replacement.
