Wow Joe- I'm glad it wasn't worse. Between the mudslides and stuff your area has been getting hit hard. Here it was supposed to be a "dusting" that became 6". Total cluster**** on the roads with some folks still not home yet.

Thanks Mark. The ground saturation is what really seems to be the problem. The soil is so soft it just can't support anything. They said on the radio yesterday morning that this is already the third wettest year on record, and we still have a month and a half to go.

I saw the NYC traffic on the national news, they were mainly covering the mess on the George Washington bridge but it looked like everywhere was a disaster.

Up here at the house my front & back yards are giant sponges even with the snow cover. If we don't dry out I'm afraid what will happen to my basement walls if all that moisture in the ground freezes. Hell it still looks like things will flood with any rain fail (& even when this stuff melts.)

Same thing here, the yard is just a mud pit. I tried picking up leaves with the tractor and it just slid all over the place and tore up the grass.

Upstate NY
MD has already smashed the wettest year record, and we still have a month and a half to go.

Same here - even the trees are messed. Some of the trees still have green leaves with the foot of snow on top of them. Fall foliage around here is usually breathtaking (from a guy that isn't into that a all), but this year was the weirdest.

We've had so much rain for the past 8 weeks that it's almost unbelievable. A local streak ended about a week ago where received at least a 1/2" of rain for every 3 day period for the last 8 weeks and never went 24 hours without rain.

Joe'sregalproject - really glad to see you made it through that safely. In the late 90's there was an icestorm in the north country of upstate NY that dumped 6" of ice. People were without power for more than 3 weeks. My inlaws lived there at the time and the memories of that have made me cut every tree that is in range of hitting my house. I know that sounds radical, but if you would've seen that you would do the same. Ice storms can hit any where at any time. Me and my family's life and well being is not worth a tree IMHO.
