Wiring Question

I have to agree in part however the system i mentioned brings that 00 from the trunk, as thats where he wanted the battery. So having the starter come from that location up under the firewall on the passenger side then feeding constant 12v from there forward to pcm and so-on is working great so far. if it has issues ill be the one fixing it. as it was the 17 patches he had together was a deathtrap waiting to happen. so cast stones glass hommed one...:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

The fact it has a battery kill in the trunk and a 200 amp fuse helps too.. and don't forget kids to make sure you use a constant duty solenoid.. not that other one...:itchy:

Not really following. All of our builds have the battery in the trunk. One has the junction at the battery disconnect in the trunk and the other has the junction at the firewall. I run a #2 wire from the truck to the starter on the 1st build and a #2 wire from the truck to the firewall post o the 2nd. The alternator for both goes to the junction with a #4.

The 1st build, my son's Cutlass, has been in action for 3+ years like this without any issues. It has oodles of grounds with the main one being a #2 from the block back to the battery. The fuel pumps' grounds go directly to the battery as well and the all other grounds are tied to the block/frame.

if you use a continuous duty solenoid on a starter you will burn out the solenoid.......

and for the 00 (2/0) wire a starter will only pull up to 250 amps and a stater will not come close to a duty cycle of 30%.....

Why would you burn up the solenoid?
Here we go....
I've never even heard of duty cycle when it comes to a solenoid?
Or is this one of them thar jokes.

a continuous duty solenoid will not take the high currents that a starter requires, a starter requires an intermittent solenoid

The constant duty was to run everything that isnt well you know the starter...

maybe my engursh skills not so gud...however the solinood on the tesla motor is always live.. you know unless the fuse in the trunk was to blow for some reason.. or if the switch in the trunk was say turned to off... but ya

the "joke" about the duty cycle is to point out how much 00 wire is an overkill using it in a car....
The issue is that the more copper you have the better the conductivity will be. period. keep the path to and from the battery and everything else as short as possible and you too can have a car that charges and starts n all that.... run whatever wire you want 00 is admittedly overkill af but the few extra pounds of wire (ore more likely ounces) isn't going to make a diff... ill tell you the thing starts as good now as my 03 gmc daily. It didn't do that before, was 00 the reason for this? i doubt it . probably was other unmentionable issues i solved that cured his issues. It didn't hurt More gauge of wire simply means more available current from the battery if called upon.

I mean come on... its not like hes trying to save money... he wants to daily a Fbody and make it fast.... these things arent possible...:banana::banana::itchy:

Anyone else wanna knife fight behind the 7-11?:lightsab:
