Steve,
I have noticed the Lauren rollpan. They do allow for clearance on theirs. I think once I get it adjusted to where I want it, and or work with the cable distance, I should be good. I'd still like to get it as close to the body as possible, and yet leave a even gap around it.
I'll post a pic of what it currently looks like mounted on the car. Then you can tell me what you think.

I think they should have something to cover that gap on the Lauren roll pan cause to me it looks like an unfinished mod. If your painting your bumper the same color of the car I don't think the slight curve in the small gap in your mock up would be noticeable. I'm thinking that curve could disappear if when welding the back bumper after it's cut if the bumper is placed in a slight V following the contour of the tailgate.

Hey Sleepy!
Thanks man. A little at a time. I've had the blue dots in for over a decade...maybe two.. :? I noticed that the lenses have both cracked around the blue dots. I was thinking about making a set of flat plexiglass lenses...and maybe going with an LED set-up.

As for the license plate pocket/ bezel. You can still find them around. Alot of them aren't in the greatest shape. I had a decent one that I pitched out several years ago. That was a mistake. They should be fairly available. El Caminos use the same part.
Thanks again man. If i see a decent one in my travels, I'll let you know.

I thought about possibly bending it slightly in the middle to the contour of the tailgate. I'll have to see.As for the slight angle. I think a few shims in the forward mounting point of the energy absorbers might help correct the angle. Again, it's trial and error. As for the gaps, perhaps when it's all painted, it will blend in...? I am alittle disappointed, but I'll working at it till I like the final product.

yeah let me now if you come across one. and if you do decide making a set of tail lights defintly post pics, i kind was thinking about doing the same thing with the tail lights, but i didnt think of useing leds. its kinda funny that you said that you had the blue dots fof a long time, i had a pair of glass ones for a long time but i put em in my s-10 and i kinda wish i still had them.i also had the thought of making tail light covers that set flush with the bumper

I really like the look of your bumper. I'd prefer doing something like that on mine as well over a roll pan. Keep up the good work!

Will do. A friend of mine has a piece of red plexiglass that he promised to send me. I believe it's 3/16" thick. I figured being that my lenses are cracked anyway, I'd make a tracing of the taillight housing onto a piece of poster board, and then transform it to the plexi .Cut it out with a sabre saw or scroll saw,and drill mounting holes. Not difficult. I would cut out the old lense from the housing and just lay the red plexi lense on top of that. Fortunately, I have a back-up set of lenses in case my experiment is a flop.
I'm pretty sure you can still get glass blue dots. That's what I have. I know they sell the plastic ones, but who wants 'em?
I will definitely post some pics of the lense project when the time comes.

How's your new headlights working out? Is there a noticeable improvement in candlepower? They do look cool.

Thanks man! I appreciate it. How are you doing on yours? Any new updates? Were you able to come to any conclusion about springs?

My ideas weren't exactly original. Here's an example of a guy that used to be on MalibuRacing

I know the pics are kinda crooked, but I didn't take them initially. That's pretty much how I want the bumper to look. It does look like he might have bowed it in the middle to clear the tailgate.
That's also what I will probably do with my taillights.
