Would this be a good trade?

[/quote]believe what you want..................i have done the legwork, no matter how you slice it, they made less salons than any other model, that makes it a rare car. had one of my salons for 15 years. live in a city of a million plus, been keepin my eyes out for these cars at least that long. I have seen hundreds af cutlasses, but only 7 salons.
anyways just because you don't believe something does not make it untrue

Where I live in Ky, I have only seen a tops of 3 or possibly 4.

And just because you post it on a forum doesn't make it true either, especially when my previous post showed your number to be wrong. So what exactly do you base your 'there were only 2000 Salons made per year' statement on? What 'legwork' have you actually done? Just because you've only seen 7 Salons out of a claimed 'hundreds' of regular ones doesn't mean a thing. So if you have any factual info to share on the various Cutlass model production numbers, please share. If not, than where are you getting your figures from?

P.S. As stated in my post, I agree that Salons are rarer than the other models. I, however, dispute you claim on the numbers.

i stand corrected......................still under 20% were salons
hard to believe 3.5 million built between a and g body...............where did they all go?

peace

Still continues... I've seen many nice solid fixable cars get parted on here. :?
It's estimated that only a third of what was produced it left if you base it off of the Hurst Olds figures from the late sixties early seventies. I believe that to be close considering the 80's were almost 30 years ago now and anything pre 1995 is basically scrapped, I would safely estimate that less than half of the G's produced are gone if not more...
Roughly 95,000 Calais/Salons were produced between 81 and 87 not including the special 88 Cutlass Supreme Classics which could have basically a Salon package... 442/Hurst are included in these figures. I hardly ever see Calais or Salons for sale around Chicago, they are usually all Supremes and Broughams.

Based on what you've seen out on the road would you say there are 30,000 Salons and Calais out there???
I seriously doubt it... if you think about that figure that means each state has 6,000 Salons and Calais not including the more common Supremes and Broughams and many in the northern states rusted out. I seriously doubt Illinois has 6000 Salons and Calais considering I am pretty much the only person in Lake and McHenry County with these cars. Over the last 5 years I see maybe one old person driving a junker twice a year and they are a Supreme or a Brouham. There are probably literally 30 Cutlasses (Supreme, Brougham, Salon, Calais etc...) in the two North Chicago counties and that's a generous estimate, most are in the city or on the south suburbs where there are allot of car guys but still.

im in a town of about 25,000 and have not seen another calias in town or around town once , i have 1
