I just found out there's a large segment of the population that looks down on my Cutlass and I'm not talking about Mustang owners. Was showing a young fellow some pics of my car on my iPod Touch yesterday and his comments lead me to believe he and his friends look upon my car as something to laugh at. Understand my car is NOT in need of paint or chrome or anything. It's in almost showroom condition. I've been mulling this over for about a day now. I realize not everyone likes the same things. To each his own and all that but to learn that the cool kids today think my car is ridiculous is not sitting well with me. When did I stop being cool?

Sorry for the rant, I think I'm just feeling old.

I'm still young. Post pics of your car and I'll tell how my generation probably feels about it?

Not only that, when did it become cool to look like Shaggy from Scooby-Doo? If it makes you feel any better, many kids are into the import tuner scene because they are cheap to buy and have alot of aftermarket support. Try and find aftermarket support for a g-body, not so much. I find it cooler to find an older car and search out the parts you need than to buy a cheap heap and bolt on a bunch of fiberglass, add NOS, and think you are cooler than everyone over 25 years old!

You stopped being cool the minute you gave a rat's *ss what some kid thought.

I was out washing my 442 the other day when my brother and his girlfriend came by. The girlfriend referred to the car as a "grandma car". It seems your either like G-body cars or you don't. Does not seem to be any in between.

Alright father time. The import scene has fallen off a lot (at least in the South) and most young people are into 70s, 80s, and 90s model cars. And there is a lot of aftermarket support for the G-Body community if you actually look and make phone calls. Correction, for the G-Body Chevys and Buicks there is a ton of aftermarket support. It's a lot less for G-Body Olds and Pontiacs.

Hey i kinda look like shaggy from scooby doo!!!!!! :x If people dont think g bodies look good then they have aful taste...plain and simple. P.S. what the hell does some dudes girlfriend know. Back in the day ( well like 8 years ago, so thats the day for me) i had a really sweet 76 cutlass. Real clean, nice paint, and my high school gf thought it was "stupid"

Yoda, I love your car, and I like how it's clean and the paint looks immaculate in the pictures. Young punks don't know jack and often shoot off at the mouth. Plus, the color may have thrown them off, expecially since they are ignorant of G-bodies in general. I'll tell you the real opinion young and old alike have about G-bodies:

This is a former 84 Grand Prix that I had:

Ok so it ONLY had a coulple minor mods (wheels/ exhaust pipes) and the fact that it is black in color -- everyone loved that car, young and old alike. All my neighbors, all my friends neighbors, strangers, gas station attendant. I gave the car to a friend of mine (yeah gave it away, long story covered in another thread here) and he is keeping it for his son, who is now 9 years old. He absolutely loves the car and can't wait to drive it when he's 16.

The ONLY negative feedback was from my recent ex girlfriend, who did not understand G-bodies. Her negative feedback was like this: When a good friend of her's praised the car and all her neighbors asked questions about the car, she asked me "why do people like your car... it's old like a granny car" :O and believe me, I wasn't bothered!
