Alright father time. The import scene has fallen off a lot (at least in the South) and most young people are into 70s, 80s, and 90s model cars. And there is a lot of aftermarket support for the G-Body community if you actually look and make phone calls. Correction, for the G-Body Chevys and Buicks there is a ton of aftermarket support. It's a lot less for G-Body Olds and Pontiacs.

Father time? I'm not that old, and yes, there is a lacking of aftermarket support for these vehicles. Look at what is out there for the 60's and early 70's muscle cars, you can build one out of a catalog! For the g bodies, most parts you need to scour the for sale ads on forums like this or search the junkyards. Also, the imports are still out there much more than the older American cars, like I said, because of the cheap prices and alot of aftermarket crap you can bolt on them.

I think there will be an increasing interest in G-body cars in the next 10 years or so. The people who started driving in the late 80s, like me, usually could not afford a Monte Carlo SS, Grand National, etc. The dreamers of the 80s, now approaching forty, are more likely to have some play money around.

Let's not forget that today's young folk were not exposed to these cars unless their Parents/Grandparents had one. If you figure the last year was 87' then that's 23 years ago,so if there were any in their family by the time they were teens, they were probably on their last legs and in rough shape. After that front wheel drive took over so these guys really have no history of rear wheel drive cars to appreciate.

Funny thing is that nobody in my family ever owned a G Body, or any cool car really for that matter with the exception of my Grandpa's '68 Mustang GT that he sold long before I got my license. I was stuck around lame boring A to B "practical" cars.... you know.... the boring ones  I have just always had a thing for the look of a G Body, the long hood, short trunk, two doors, these cars have just always had a spot in my gearhead heart.

I guess that because I grew up with boring practical cars, watching my dad always be the "passee" and never the "passer" on family trips, I just wanted something nice and flashy that turns heads, so I have tried to make all of my cars stick out.

Psssssst.... hey Crash... um, I wanted to know, actually I'm dying to find out :? -- how much did you pay for your newly acquired 82 Cutlass? If you don't mind me asking, that is. If you don't want to post publicly you can PM me if you want. This question comes from someone who really appreciates G-bodies. Ok from someone fanatical about G-bodies. Also if you can explain how your "wheeling and dealing" went, when you and your wife went to look at, and finally leave that deposit for the car.
The more details the better. If you give me a good write up I'll be forever grateful.

Ok, I'm sick, and I need help. 😳 I just wanna know and it'll give me certain chemical stimulation that I can't understand myself :wax:

I don't mind, I will tell 🙂 I posted it in my pic thread though so as not to clog this one up and keep it on topic 8)

BTW, thanks for the link to the Stolen Car thread! Lots of good advice in there! Also, you have had some SICK looking Grand Prix's... keep up the good work!

I personally would take my Cutlass or any G-body over an import any day. Most of the kids who are into hondas aren't actually gearheads in my opinion. They just got back from watching the fast and the furious and saw that if you have an import, its fast and you'll get a ton of hot chicks all over you. jk  They want to spend as least as possible and go as fast as possible to fit in with the other guys. When you look at a low optioned G-body, they don't really look like much, which is probablly why a lot of people think they are "granny cars" or slow. To me that is a huge plus, so when you take this honda kid for a ride down the street or blow the doors off his civic friends, they won't know what hit him.
Sleeper G-bodies>Honda

My girlfriend in highschool thought my cutlass was a turd. Then we broke up
