I got the battery hooked up and actually cranked it over a little bit before the loose battery terminal cut my power. The motor sounded healthy enough, but I have no idea if it is a 231 or a 229. I think I have everything to put it back together except the AC compressor and countless bits of bracketry.

I did find a couple spots of rust on the hood bracing where it holds up the insulation and a body mount bolt that is broke, but other than that the body is clean.

I did try to get that 3.8 running last night and it is definitely not wanting to fire up. It will crank over and sounds okay but it never seems to want to catch, and that is with using both gasoline down the carb and a shot of ether when that did not work. I am not exactly sure of the year of the engine, but it came with both an even-fire and an odd-fire distributor cap. The even-fire one was installed on the distributor.

At this point, I may either just pull it out and put in a 4.3 and try to keep the computer or put my 350/NV3500 out of my El Camino in it and sell the El Camino shell.

I don't feel too bad about the biscayne. When we went to pick this car up, she about had a nostalgia meltdown as I guess this exact body style and color combination of car was the car that her and her friends ran around in and caused trouble. She liked the El Camino but she loves this thing.

I just closed the deal on a '99 S-10 4.3 Engine and wiring harness for $200. I will probably hook this motor to the TH200 that came out of my EC until I happen across a 4L60. This truck also had a 4L60E transmission that was already gone but the wiring is all there for the future. I am hoping that the transmission will be plug and play when the time comes.

I have a keeper also, not just talking bout my El Camino,A couple weeks ago I was in the middle of a lot of welding on my project. It's Friday night and I have to go work out of state at 4 in the morning, the argon for my mig is empty. She got up early on a Saturday and took the tank 20 miles to where I get it filled so I'd be able to finish welding. We've been together over 25 years. I'll keep her ATLEAST another 25

On the 69 wagon. Was it by chance the very rare factory 2 barrel carb version? I believe 69 was the only year they used that engine in full size cars and maybe trucks.
