My third car that I bought off my Mom of all people it needed work but was a 73" Grand Am, the first and best year in my opinion.
It came white with red/white and blue pinstriping,it had burgundy interior, buckets and console, factory gauges and tach and it had a 400 4 barrel dual exhaust and a 355 posi all from the factory and handled assume for its time.
If I could find a mint one I would build a stroker big Pontiac for it with aluminum heads etc. and probably modify a Can Am rear spoiler and shaker hood for it.

My uncle had one of those, in about 1975. Replaced his green 68 GTO, which had replaced the Honduras Maroon 62 Impala SS he drove to high school.

The GA was replaced by a silver G body Grand Prix about 1979 or so.

He was a pretty cool guy at the time, not so much these days.

Guess I've been pretty lucky, have owned most of the stuff I lusted after. Luckily, while I appreciate them, I was never a Mopar guy, so I was spared that bit of spendiness.

Some of the weird/cool stuff was a factory 4 speed 70 Monte with A/C & power windows ..in an Iowa car.
70 SS 454 Chevelle (cowl induction, AM 8 track, rear defog, and an M22!)
70 SS 396 Chevelle
72 SS 350 Chevelle
69 SS 396 Chevelle
68 SS 396 Chevelle
64 SS 283 Chevelle..hmm. I see a pattern here
71 SS 396 Chevelle clone
67 Chevelle...rearended at previous owner's curb before I could get off work to pick it up (p/o was a coworker)
70 Olds Rallye350...screwed up later when I didn't buy a friends Rallye post F85 car
Dozens of others like a 1 owner 67 Camaro, 62 Impala coupe, 70 Judge, 70 Lemans sport, 69 GTO convertible, 69 Firebird, 66 Biscayne blah blah blah

But I guess my dream car in younger days was a 65 Chevelle SS....Z16 would be nice, but not very realistic. At one time I had a pretty sizable stash of NOS parts for one...but finally figured out their price and my wages were never going to meet. Deal was sealed when a car I'd been actively trying to buy for 3 years from a rinky-dink car lot/service station (stopped every other weekend) was sold to a guy that dropped by and asked on the "off" week. Didn't help growing up in the rust belt and trying to buy 60s stuff...even in the late 70s.

These days I'd say it's a 50s wagon...55/56 Ford, 56 Chev, 59/60 Chev, or anything really 50s. I've even looked at a 59 Rambler Cross Country and a 58 Edsel a friend has...no floors :?

My next dream car was a '62 Chevy Belair or Biscayne with a 409, 4-spd sleeper. I later shifted over to <redacted>.

Jack, you'll appreciate this...when I was in high school, a kid I ran around with some had a 62 Belair sport coupe. Yep, a bubbletop. Nobody knew what the hell it was..it was just "that weird 62 with the 61 roof". He bought it for a winter beater, and I remember a few years later seeing it in the local salvage yard that I visited a LOT.

Don't cry for it, this was Iowa, and the car was galvanized sheetmetal from the style line down all around. I suppose today somebody would build it, then it was just an old chevy beater.

My all time favorite body style has to be a '69-70 Mach I Mustang, with the Shaker hood scoop, rear window louvers and front & rear spoilers, big block 428 CJ and a 4 speed 😀

Back when I was in my single digits, lol, my dream was a 57 Chevy, then it switched to a 75-79 Nova 😳 , then onto to a 68 Roadrunner, which I am still stuck on today, even though if a 62 Plymouth fullsize were next to it, I'd have a hard time choosing one or the other.

A 70 Gremlin, or Hornet would trump all  .

NUFF SAID!

My first dream car was an 83-88 monte ss. My first car was an 84 monte carlo CL 305, got it for 600 bucks in 2000. I modded it up, but i always wanted a SS. My girlfriends dad during college (my mom made me sell the monte when i moved back home after my first year of college) gave me a 93 Mazda 929, nice car but my friend wrecked it 3 weeks after i had it. Parents kicked me off their insurance after that, and i bought an 87 monte ss. Truck 350 in it, need work, but i loved that car to death. I did some work to it, then the carb caught fire one day (put a demon carb on it, the adjuster screw on top of the primary bowl started to leak, one good backfire and it went up), it sat, i bought an 86 monte CL as a DD and built a 383 for the SS. It was fast as hell, but i lived on my own and sold it. Ive had tons of G bodies since then, but the SS montes are still my dream car. I had a beautiful 84 ss i bought 4 years ago, i built a nasty engine, put a rollcage in it, a ford 9 inch, a built th400, and a 200 shot of juice in it, plus tons of other sh*t in it. I sold it to support my repair shop i own, but i miss it dearly. My turbo regal and somerset regal with never replace how much i loved that car, hopefully soon ill get another SS. This time its getting a 6.0 LS motor with a single turbo, modernized with technology.

When I was a kid I was big into Lambos, my dream car was a Dodge Viper.

As i got older though the only car I wanted was a 79 monte. My first car and still my favorite.

My earliest memory was of a 41 willys business coupe done up gasser style. Always wanted one, but doubt it'll ever happen.
My other favorites would be three cars I have owned at one time.
1: 70 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler 429 scj 4sd drag pac. Comp Blue.
2: 70 Torino Cobra 429 cj auto. Comp Yellow.
3: 70 Mercury Cougar Eliminator. Mine was a 351 Cleveland auto car in Comp Green. I would rather of had a Boss 302 4spd version. Not complaining though...
