I am in process of swapping out the bench seat in my 87 El Camino with a set of Monte Carlo bucket seats. I want to redo the seats rebuild the foam and redo the seat covers. However, before I order replacement seat covers, I would like to be certain (or have a better idea) of the following: What year? Is this a high or low back?

Can someone lend me a hand identifying this bucket seat?

Lastly, I'd appreciate anyone sharing their experience with vendors/sources of replacement seat covers. I see them on the Dixie Restoration Depot site but are there others available? Thank you in advance.

I bought seat upholstery from Stockinteriors.com for my Regal, while I only used the rear seat cover they were well made and fit good and the material is made by ACME.
They will also send you free material or carpet samples.

565bbchevy, thanks for the referral to stockinteriors. I really like the fact that these are NOT seat covers but replacement upholstery. I've sent for samples of their vinyl, perforated vinyl, and cloth materials. What color did you order? I am looking for Maroon or Claret. Also, I want to speak directly with someone to inquire about the possibility of getting upholstery for just my front bucket seats.

Mine is the Claret Encore. I don't think they split up sets I bought the front bench set because it was the cheapest and I kept the rear seat upholstery and sold the front. Still cheaper than paying someone local to make just the rear seat.
The material is the same ACME part number that Cerullo seats used on my buckets they made so it was a perfect match.

Thanks. About the cost to have a local shop redoing the upholstery, I went to a local upholstery shop here in Hawaii and the quote was $1000 to re-upholster one seat in vinyl with perforated vinyl insert panel. My response was thank you very much, I'll have to think about it!

BTW, nice interior!!

I got a quote for $1,000 for just my back seat to be redone and that was with me also supplying the material.
That is why I went with Stockinteriors set.

You have the low back. This pic shows the highback out of my 79 Monte

The low backs have the separate, adjustable headrest
