That's what I like about the "Coffee and Cars"/"Caffeine and Octane" meets in TX. They do it one Sunday a month, early enough in the day that the sun doesn't fry you.

So true. We do Cars & Coffee in Plano, TX and I think we left the house last time @ 5:30 AM. You get an unbelievable car show and you are done by 9AM.

UNGN, I totally agree. I'd even go further with setting up a modern domestic class. There are just as many aftermarket suppliers for LX Mopar platforms and the newer GM and Ford rear wheel drive platforms as there are for the pre-2000 cars. I'm sure Goodguys are hurting.

Killeen, TX does it the same way. No judging, no trophies, just a bunch of gearheads bringing their toys out to converse and network.

For the last 12 years I've worked on this 95 GTI. The few times I wanted to be part a muscle/vintage car cruise I was hassled by the gate keepers. My issue is, with being 67 I don't fit into the 'tuner' crowd where some of the kids are old enough be my grandchild. I went to many VW shows 4 to 12 years ago but my car, being mostly original, had a tendency to be ignored because it didn't scrape, had no fancy rims and lacked the proper amount of camber. The Gti which I'm trying to sell is quite a bit faster and handles way better when compared to what I take to cruises now!( as of late August 2016.) I'm showing my age but the music of the muscle/vintage car crowd is more my style than the electronic stuff the kids listen to now. -me, yelling at clouds again.

ed1948, hey if you were hassled by the "gate-keepers", there's always another gate down the road! And, nice VW! The composite lights are a nice touch.

I forgot to ad that my friend's 34 year old son, who swore off cars competely after a few bad clunkers, just picked up a 65 Impala Convertible and plans to keep it stock. He's also eyeing a 60's pickup truck.

Holy smokes i could ramble on forever about this topic but i will try to keep it short guys! I personally am a fan of alot of the car genre's out....my coworker has a mazdaspeed 3 putting close to 300hp to the ground and it's a BLAST to drive! I've had several quick imports myself, hell my daily is an 07 mazda 6 with the 3.0L and it's pretty quick! However, my first car is my 87 cutlass i still have and my true car passion spans the old schools....i used to get dropped off to school in my buddy's brother's lowrider 73 caddy and it was awesome to see the looks when you come into the parking lot on 3 wheels throwing sparks lol!!!!!
With my dad being a true gearhead and veteran mechanic we learned to fix stuff ourselves and we used to take my grandma's 59 pontiac catalina to shows.
Here in Louisville they also have Cars n Coffee once a month and its a blast. Even the NSRA changed their entry rules several years back....it's now called Street Rod Nationals Plus which accepts anything 30 years old and older which drew in well over 10,000 cars this year!!!! I had some pics of g's there but just deleted them last week!
Like most said, it all depends on what the club putting the show on wants to do. My favorite local show is at the end of this month (boohoo my cutlass misses it for another year) put on by Louisville Street Rods. Anything goes with the exception of bikes and go karts and if the weather is nice there are easily 1,500 cars +.
Rant over lol!
