2017 OK/MO Route 66 G-Body Cruise FEELER THREAD

Alrighty. Thx to HAFROD for the idea on this one. Since me and him and a couple others are pretty close to a section of the mother road, I'm wondering how many others are, where you are exactly, and if you might be up for a Route 66 cruise sometime next year.

Myself, I'd probably only be able to swing a section from say Oklahoma City to maybe Springfield MO or so. (I'm located near Tulsa) even if that's the only part that's official. I don't know.

Just throwing this out to get opinions, if anyone would be up for it, etc. etc. I figure I'd have a registration page, participants would need to register (for a $$), and get a t-shirt, plaque, and that way we can coordinate and keep track of everyone, make sure nobody gets left on the side of the road, that sort of thing. Plus it would give me an idea just how big (or not) to expect it and shift resources if needed.

Also, when would be the best? Talking about weather here. Springtime gets iffy with Tornado season, then it turns into hot-as-fuark until about now, but then everyone's doing other stuff, school, etc....

Looking for ideas, suggestions, etc. Start/End points, you name it. Who's in?

I'd be in. I live about 30 miles west of Tulsa. Maybe early spring before the weather gets crazy or too hot? I'd love to think my car would make it to St. Louis, but Springfield is good for sure. Maybe swing up to Branson for the night. I've also got tow vehicles so I could provide some roadside help if someone needed it.

I was going to suggest The Blue Whale in Catoosa for a beginning spot. Big parking lot and a gas station 1/2 mile down the road

I'm 6 miles off 66 near Wellston....will have to see how much I can get done this fall/winter.

That's the idea if its possible. If I calculate it right, OKC to Springfield is about 5-7 hours. So its not like we'd be out there cannonballing it. Of course if we make planned stops/checkpoints it would add to it.

Maybe there's a way to take it further in either direction (NM-OKC?, Springfield-STL?)on adjacent days? Have to do a lot of thinking on that one. Anyone have any experience pulling something like this together? Because I have none.
