If you keep breaking trans mounts there is a problem.

That poly mount will make it worse since the rubber mount will no longer be the weak link.

Something somewhere will have to give.

I'll check the motor mounts. I just figured they kept breaking because of the poor quality of cheap parts nowadays.

I installed a rubber replacement transmission mount in my Salon. When I would drive around my yard and around the block, the shifter would move (manual). Got under it with a pry tool and it's too squishy. I too bought the Energy Suspension one. The clam shell engine mounts in our cars are pretty good even worn. The transmission mounts ARE the weak link.

I'm hoping that's the case in my situation. I'm gonna use the poly mount since it's already paid for and I've had nothing but bad results with the rubber ones.

I finally made it to O'Reilly. I got caught in a miles long traffic jam on the interstate. 2 wrecks in less than 15 miles! I got the last 2 things I needed- assembly lube and red Loctite.

I'm on my way home to put this transmission together. Hopefully I can get it done today.

Could I talk you into a step by step on the rebuild? I have only rebuilt one transmission, 2004R out of my 87 GN. After my build it had a 2-3 flair that I could not figure out. Took it to a trans shop and he said he did not see anything wrong when he tore it apart. Funny that it worked great after that. I've got an old 350 turbo here that I'd like to build. I guess I'm gun shy after my incident.

I won't be able to this time. I already have a lot of it put back together and I haven't taken a single pic. I was kind of hurrying to get it done especially since that traffic jam and the 30 mile trek to get assembly lube slowed me down. I've found a couple different tutorials online that do a good job of describing the process. I'll try to remember to post links later. I'm at work right now. I've also got an extra ATSG CD Rom that came with my rebuild kit that I could part with. Send me a message if you're interested.

OK, you can keep your job as moderator but your transmission rebuild specialist title has been suspended till further notice. On a totally off the wall subject, do you need any small parts for your Monte? I may have one decent tail light and a few other things extra around here

More like Transmission Rebuild Specialist in Training! Lol.

I'm planning on making a video when I get it back in the car and test it out for the first time.

I do need a right front parking light. Maybe some other things. I'll have to check.
