Finally pulled the body yesterday.Hopefully will be starting on the frame this weekend.Getting new body mounts, brake lines and proportioning valve.Have some braided line left over for a fuel and return line.Already have all new brakes,SSM ultimate handling package including upper and lower ball joints.Just need front control arm bushings, shocks and springs for all 4 corners.Going to use POR15 on the frame and underside of the body. Anyone have any suggestions on shocks and springs?Remember my 19 year old is buying his own parts so not interested in coil overs or super expensive stuff.Thinking Moog springs with some good shocks.Whats do you guys think about rear air shocks for our 28"tires with separate lines for each one, worked well at the track on my 84'Hurst.

All came out easy.Surprisingly with as bad as the rust is on the frame, all surface rust though it is solid.Underside of body is just surface rust too. Will treat it all then some POR 15.I really like the product.Finding a posi rearend is next or installing one.Probably a 3.23 or 3.42.Already have a Turbo 350 for it.It will be a mild 350 sbo so a 7.5 will be enough for it.

I love me some POR15, and have used it extensively on my 87 cutlass resto as well as other vehicles my brother n law and myself mess with. Here is a link to my build thread with many POR15 pics if you have time to look through it.

Definitely following this build...awesome to have your son helping alongside, the learning and bonding is invaluable!!! My brother n law and I are currently helping my dad restore his '90 Jeep YJ that's getting a sbc swap.

What are your suspension goals? Planned tire and wheel combo? I am pretty sure I can get you guys on point with over the counter parts.

For a Michigan car that thing is in good condition. I like the burgandy exterior.
Are you sure it is an 1981 model? I see it has the 200-4R frame mount which means 84' or newer. Also I think that burgandy was offered beginning in 86' ?

What is the offset/backspacing on the Centerlines? And are you willing to roll the rear fender lips for room?
