The problem is that one of the most knowledgeable members is the biggest a-hole. If you want to learn something, you have to see through the arrogance. Oldsmobile performance is quickly becoming a lost art.
Yes even I am for shamed. For I have chosen to go 454 ... ☹ but only in my Chevy:D

"Yuse" guys are driving away the elky crowd. When I was in the Army a New Yorker and guy from Florida were having a big discussion whether Coke is called "pop" or "soda?" They asked me what it's called. I said "soda pop."

An ex Oldsmobile racer that I've known for 20+ years had a set for sale at the Miller Oldsmobile meet, $10. They had small welds on one corner, no big deal, unless they're going on a show car. I thought about buying them but I really don't need them plus I figured hopefully someone that needed them would buy them. I gave the elco guy Chuck his name and number. Chuck pm'd me and said they were welded on the frame so he passed. The ones I saw, a little grinding would have cleaned them up.

I dont agree with it , but thats where they all went
Yah it didn't help that the 307 went completely backwards with the swirl port version. Less compression and tiny ports didn't help the Olds V8 reputation.

I'd take a 307 over a 305 any day. Who doesn't want another 2 inches?!
I have only had a lot of experience with the early 307, great all around motor. I know everyone who complained about how gutless the 307 was, the later swirl port versions were the culprit. Everyone hates the 260 as well, basically a swirlport 307 with a smaller bore and Dualjet. Add better gears and exhaust, also not half bad even in my 3750 pound 88 Cutlass.
