How's it gonna drive real world? Is the gearing going to be weird and annoying to drive?

It would most likely be behind an Ls, but not ruling out a vortec.

Or should I leave th200/th350?

Really don't need OD with a 2.41 but if you do plan on going with better gears down the road you'll have the OD in place. Now I do wonder what it'll be like going down Penn View to Blairsville with that combo.

My Buick Roadmaster donor was factory-built with a 4L60E and 2.56 axle....apparently GM was OK with it.

As long as you have an engine that makes a GOOD amount of low end torque ( idle to 2500 ) it should be fine.

That setup wouldn't be my first choice.

GM was OK with a lot of things that never should have been done!!!!!!
They also did it in our cars. My 88 was factory 140 hp 307 swirl port fire breather, 2004R and 2.56 gears. Someone put an earlier 307 in it, not great but not horrible either for performance. I put a 403 with just a Performer cam in with a 2400 stall and did one wheel peels all over. Also towed my boat just fine with an exhaust upgrade. You will pull really good highway mileage. The deep first gear will help but neither the LS or sbc like highway gears in my experience.

I did 2.29s with a 200-4R in my MCSS back in the day - granted it had a 300ish horse 355 to push it. Still surprised I didn't lose my license or die driving it like that.

The purpose of an overdrive trans is that you can run numerically higher gear ratios. Hence why the 2020 C8 Corvette has a 5.11 gear in the back with its 8-speed transmission. With a 4L60E trans, I would run a minimum 3.73 or higher gear ratio. A 4.10 would be ideal. This will give the vehicle better acceleration due to torque multiplication. It is also easier on the drive train as it puts less stress on the engine & trans.

GM installed 3.73 gears in G-Body Olds 442's with the 2004R. This helped the anemic 5.0 engine with its pathetic 200HP to at least accelerate fast enough to get out of its own way and merge onto highways without getting killed. In OD the 2004R with a 0.67 ratio turned that 3.73 gear into a 2.49 ratio when in OD so you still get great highway cruising RPMs

A 2.41 gear with an OD trans will make the vehicle accelerate like a turd.
