Useful take a ways 5356 wire & larger tip. Dust mask for fumes, laughable.
Dust masks are just that DUST MASKS they are NO PROTECTION FROM FUMES. You need to use the same chemical filters that you would use for painting. The best test is if you can smell the fumes/vapors, your not protected.

I have a 90 Amp Lincoln MIG welder that can do both flux core and solid core from Home Depot. It is enough for general repairs. I used it to weld in a frame repair washer and rear seat brace for my Regal. Used solid core to patch some Landau roof rot and fix some of the huge factory gaps in the roof panels. Also fixed some house railing with flux core, and patched my CVPI's rockers with solid core. Solid core is good for thin metal but for thicker and dirtier metal flux core is better.

I bought a Lincoln 175+ with infinite adjustments probably 20 years ago and run it on 230 and it has done everything I ever needed it to do.

Ed, did you make a purchase? I'm finding myself looking for a MIG right now to weld in these patch panels. I like my FC90 but flux core isn't very useful for body work. I'm mainly looking at the Hobart Handler 140, but for a few bucks more this is awfully tempting, especially being an inverter machine.

I have had three of the Lincoln migs from Lowes. The first was flux core only. Sold it and bought the 115 flux or gas one. I ended up selling it and got the 230 volt flux or gas one 180. I've loved them all. I do tons of sheetmetal and exhaust with mine. Gas all the way though.

Yeah lack of a gas input is the real shortcoming of my Century/Lincoln 90. I am limited (for now) to 120V power in the garage so the biggest machine I can really get is a 140. I have to look again but I think the Hobart has more settings for wire speed and heat than the Lincoln 140.

I have nothing but good to say about hobart and Lincoln. There awesome machines but if your thinkin of spending in 7-900 range. The hobart 210mvp or the titanium 200 mig/tig/stick machine are worth looking into. My buddy has 1 he loves it. Im thinkin of getting one so i can tig stainless. If your staying 110v then the hobart/lincoln 140s are the best

I'm trying to stay under $600 if possible because I'm still gonna have to buy a bottle, and yeah, I'm stuck with 110V power for the time being. The Hobart 140 is on sale at TSC right now for $470.

Cant go wrong with the hobart. It goes down to 25 amp. Has a stable arc and consumables are plentiful. My 80 cu ft bottle was 300 from air gas. Which seems outrageous but i own it. Btw i got that patch sent out to you today. Snail mail but its coming. Lookin forward to seein what your plan to fix the regal is.
